Ontario Liquor Law Changes - Official

Post by Cass »

Here's the official news about the changes to the liquor laws:

http://www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.c ... -ll-nr.asp

http://www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.c ... -ll-bg.asp

http://www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.c ... ll-bg2.asp

One of the 'groups' consulted was a coalition of myself, George Milbrandt, Troy Burtch and Jed Corbeil. It was nice to meet with them and have our thoughts heard. And obviously progress is being made here.

So do you have any clarity on what the new rules mean for festival fenced-in areas? Like can the entire Olympic Island (Or Downsview Park) be a "fenced in" area?

If not, it just seems to me like they allowed the size of the beer tent to grow - but I didn't think there was any particular size restriction in the past....

This one might be nice too:

"Street festivals can allow people to leave their bar or restaurant with a drink in hand, providing specified conditions are met to ensure public safety. "

Except I'm sure those 'specified conditions' are probably overly onerous

Don't know any of the exact specifics. However, some of the other points (non-festival related) I specifically brought up so it's cool to see them changing.

Well, surprise, surprise, seems like the beer companies won't take their time to take advantage of the new laws. I picked up a free bottle of Stella Light at King & John today. They'll be handing out more in about 30 minutes or so. (Time now is 3:50pm.) I've never tried their light beer yet but I'm pretty sure it'll suck. Free is free though. :P

Yep, free of flavour, free of aroma, free of body.

I hope some of the better beer companies take some notes on the free handouts. ;-)

That's a damned lie!

It tastes cold. And refreshing.
