I listen to a variety of things... but when I'm brewing, The Man in Black always seems to make an appearance.

I know I'll be vastly in the minority here but I almost always listen to classical music with an emphasis on early (pre-baroque) music: Monteverdi, Gabrieli, etc.

Bach is always at hand as an inspiration to perfection. :D

Great thread. I always start my brewing day with Copperhead Road. I like to think that song has a nod to the man in black in there, somewhere.

there is only one mandatory song on brewdays: iron maiden - the number of the beast. despite the rest of the brewday, this is always played when beer is being transferred into fermenters.

the rest of the day depends on where we're brewing and our current musical mood. if we're at volo, it's probably a sunday and we'll have Q107 psychedelic sunday playing. at my place it's usually a saturday, so that doesn't apply. metal is often in heavy rotation. also often end up listening to large discography chunks if we get going in a particular vein.

They are from Victoria too! And their last album came with a bonus instructional DVD they made on homebrewing.

I like to listen to CBC radio 1. They usually have informative or entertaining shows without the loud talk show yabbering of commercial radio. Not to mention listening to stupid advertisements is bad karma for beer!

Otherwise, reggae and/or some spacey dub is my preference when I'm doing any manual labour including brewing.
