Czechvar, produced March 10, so 3 1/2 months old. Throws a heavy stream of bubbles from a thin-based sleeve, which shows the freshness - as does the taste.
No craft lager I've had really comes close to the particular profile of this beer, which has an oily/flowery taste, very pleasant, with good fresh-cooked barley notes. It always strikes me as Riesling-like, as if you took a gulp of that wine with a mouthful of whole-grain buttered bread.
A deserved classic.

To start the long weekend,
Alley Kat White Tail Hefeweizen
Mt Begbie Nasty Habit
Trois Pistoles - had this with a wonderfully fresh & locally made Baba Ganoush and pita breads. I'd say it was a perfect match.
Houblon Chouffe Dobbelen IPA Tripel

It was nice to be able have a beer and walk around. By the end of the night the people who were really enjoying the Bud/Bud light were having trouble navigating the crowd though.icemachine wrote:$8 for a tallboy of Bud or Bud Light. Good Lord Downsview Park needs to get better beer tents. The whole concert area was licensed though so it was possible to drink swill while enjoying the music

After a very stressful day in Toronto, and being incredibly disappointed with what Volo had once we got there, enough so that we instantly walked out (damn you, homosexuals!)... at C'est What:
County Durham XXX on cask - glad to finally try this!
Nickel Brook Headstock IPA - reminded me of a lighter Curmudgeon, good stuff.
Samples from the girlfriend:
Macleans IPA (I loved it!)
Augusta Ale
Later tonight: TEN BITTER YEARS! Got my case..
