No problem. In fact I feel like when they first opened with just the Lugtread available they were pretty upfront with marketing it as a kolsh. I could be wrong, but the whole "lagered ale" descriptor is relatively new as far as marketing goes.

The official name of the beer has been "Lug Tread Lagered Ale" right from launch, with "Kölsch" or "Kölsch-style" as a secondary descriptor.

I could be wrong, but I think there may be some legislation that disallows the use of "Kölsch" in the brand name of a beer unless it's brewed in Cologne.

Yeah Kolsch convention defines kolsch brewers within koln and they have protected designation within the EU at least.

Just on the point of a lagered ale, it is in my opinion, an accurate description of any ale which has been stored cold for a time unfiltered. I would think most ales in Canada, even most craft ales, are lagered within this meaning. But also as I said, I don't see why you couldn't call a lagered ale one which had taste attributes, due to a particular hopping regime, of an ale and a lager. What I read on the board or menu, at whatever pub it was, was describing I guess the style of the beer and it might have said kolsch-style but that's how I read it anyway.

I sit just me or has Beaus had excessive Diacetyl lately? Either that or I'm becoming more sensitive to it.

I know some people are sensitive to diacetyl and feel it is detrimental to the palate in large amounts, but I can't say it's something I've ever noticed really - I mean in beer in general. I haven't noticed it in the Lugtread, in that beer I get a Germanic-influenced flavour and otherwise a normally-brewed ale with good taste.

In beers where diacetyl - a fermentation by-product - is noticeable, perhaps I just don't mind the taste.

Don't know about "lately" but I find some of the grass and grain fades away pretty quickly with Beau's, so the not-so-nice bits become more pronounced.

I think maybe it is me, mind you one of the times it was really pronounced it was on tap. It was always one of my favourites. I'm going to give it another try and keep my fingers crossed.
