Gone but not Forgotten...LCBO Beers from Yesteryear

Post by El Pinguino »

I just grabbed my last Westmalel Dubbel and last Westmalle Tripel from the basement. I remember years ago it seemed there was Westmalle on the shelves at the LCBO all of the time.

With that in mind, here are a handful of beers I miss most, which once held promise as being long-term LCBO products.

Westmalle Dubbel
Westmalle Tripel
Anchor Liberty Ale
Dogfish Head 60
Unibroue Maudite

Westmalle Tripel is coming back. It's already listed, but no stock yet, at the LCBO:

Unibroue Maudite is available in 6 packs at the BEER STORE. 1 of the few good reasons to go there, other than to return empties. :)

That's awesome! Liberty was my introduction into craft beer.

It's great that it's coming back, but I'll still miss that 650ml bottle. Great value.

Apparently BBCS will be back next year. I heard they're going to rotate Monster and BBCS...

But, yes, I agree. Remember when it was 2.80 a bottle? A case for like 70 bucks? Oh, I have only one left...

When was saison dupont at the LC? Must have been before my "time". Were they the 750ml bottles, or the 330? Any chance we'll get it back?

We once long ago had Saison Dupont in the capped 750ml bottles, probably in the nineties because I remember drain-pouring it.

The 250mls were maybe around 2005, and two bucks each (some went on clearance for 1.60.)
