While I seem to go against the grain and think this is pretty crap, I do think it will be back next year, partially because they chose to name it 'Hop Nouveau 2009'. In terms of other brewers catching on to the wet hopped trend, I think it will happen here, and hopefully stay the distance. After all, we've now seen a couple examples in Ontario, as well as offerings from Nova Scotia and BC.

Now if you guys who liked the Trafalgar track down some Sartori Harvest from Driftwood you'll realise the true potential of wet hopping and why I'm disappointed with this one:

It's no longer on draught at C'est What? but when it was it was a shade cheaper (at $6.50 a pint) than Hop Addict and the McAuslan products.

Well as I stated it was not an over the top offering it's a soft fresh, bright little pale...very pleasant, very leafy and quenching. It was not meant (I assume) to compete or compare with 60 plus IBU west coast ales. It was a bold (by local standards) attempt to go with a new micro trend...wet hopping...for that alone I would recommend it. Be nice to see other local market brewers catch this late boil-dry hopping wet hop trend. Demand for more fresh hops = more local hop growers. As I said, be nice to see Ontario reestablish a hop industry.

Remember brewers; wet hop cones freeze well in vacuum bags and taste as good as fresh

Drank my second bottle last night, still quite tasty, with no sourness or other typical Trafalgar flavours.

Absolutely with Bobsy on the Hop Nuveau, disappointing and not worth buying a 2nd bottle.

Also with him on the Sartori Harvest from Driftwood - THAT is an excellent example of a Canadian fresh-hopped ale. Why can't Ontario do something like that?
