Greg, speaking for myself, I grabbed 8 for now as I am taking the subway home from work. There were 20 or so left after I took my 8. I did not ask to see if there was more in the stockroom.

Just a tip for those of your feverishly checking the LCBO website for availability...bear in mind that stores don't always update the website hourly or even daily. Some stores get stock and sell it through before the quantities ever get listed on the public website. For instance, Spadina (Chinatown) had several cases of the DFH today even though the website said they didn't. Best advice is to call your local stores that carry seasonals and ask...don't count on the website.

Yeah, isn't it basically just the closing inventory point of the day before? Good advice Jon.

Yes. While it may actually be more adventuresome to chase around inaccurate inventories from the website (only to be dramatic about 'just narrowly' missing them) there's also the option to call stores, set aside stock if necessary... and then simply arrive with a plan in mind.

Trick is knowing which 'no inventory' stores to ring up at this very second TODAY NOW OH GOD OH GOD, but be cool - the DFH seems to be getting to stores all over the next few days. Cooper Street for example should have cases out some day soon, at least enough of them for John Walker and one other person. 8)

I'm all done...for now. I got in early and I got in big. You've got to remember, quality American IPA is my holy grail, I made sure I was first in line. You guys can fight it out over the Goudenband without competition from me while I amass a SMALL percentage of the total LCBO order of DFH.

Besides, leaving stray bottles in stores for other folks isn't my style. If they wanted it bad enough they would have done the legwork with individual store employees, the distributor and other key conspiritors that I did.

Seriously, if anyone actually does miss out on getting some in the next few weeks they can always PM me. But there are 400 cases...surely everyone will get their share in the coming few days if not by the end of the month?

While it concerns a different beer, what I posted back in '02 still holds true: "A brief note to whoever bought the entire stock of Hop Devil: not all of us can afford to drink at Smokeless Joe's. By all means grab a bunch for yourself, but don't be a hog, eh?"

Thanks for cleaning out my local.

When I called my local yesterday, the guy said it looks like they have 1...ONE, case heading to that store, and one more in the Hamilton area. That's 2 cases...and to me, that is absurd!

Everybody relax. We have not recieved any here in the London area yet. I've been told that there is over 4800 bottles at the Whitby LCBO warehouse (not including orders already placed by stores). I've got my local (the only LCBO in Dorchester) to order me a case, and I should have it around May 1st. I may have to wait, but at least I'm sure to get my case. I've called several LCBO's in London, none of them currently have stock, but most have it on order. One location I called didn't have it listed in their store, however after talking to them for 30 seconds they decided to list it and order 2 cases for stock.

If you're nervous about missing out, just call your local and have them order you a case. All it takes is a phone call to guarantee yourself some of this incredible beer.

Steve-E, I like your idea, and in theory it works, but just ask how many of us have had our "local" order and hold us a case, only to be met with blank stares, or "Sorry, we sold it" when we go to pick it up, or when we call to see if it is in. You're right, there will be plenty available eventually (hopefully) the challenge in Toronto will be to buy it before the good beer bars do :)

I know, I'm a bit of a dreamer sometimes. I guess when you live in a small town with 1 LCBO, 1 beer store (less than a year old) and everyone drinking their favorite Molbatt crap it's pretty safe to special order things. Especially when you know the guy doing the ordering by name :D

However, I completely understand the skepticism. I guess all you can do is try and hope for the best.
