Bellwoods Boogie Monster.

Clearly Bellwoods hasn't figured out how to brew IIPA's yet. Bitter, astringent, not much in the way of hop aroma or flavour. Witchshark isn't great, but this is even worse. How do you fuck up a beer with simcoe and centenial? i'm not sure.

Trois Pistoles (aged ~16 months)

my last bottle of Chimay Cent Cinquante... please don't tell me if it ages nicely as it is better than any cheap sparking wine I've had. :)

Just to put me in a strange synchrony with the last two, I had a Deus before midnight, then an Amsterdam sour cherry after.

I have 3 deus left. I don't love them, but they may well turn into my new years brew just for the bubbles.

Yeah I don't get the love for their ipas or imperials. This one was letdown for me too.

Not getting it 100% either. A beer like Philips Amnesiac or Avery Maharaja absolutely kills any strongly-hopped IPA of Bellwoods, with great citrus and herbal layers and good complexity. I don't überly care for Witchshark or Roman Candle, they seem malt-heavy and very blunt in style. In fact of all Bellwoods brews I tend to only really like the 'session style' single-hop beers, the saisons, berliner weisse etc. BW are quite good at those! Still I support whatever they do...

I agree that their IPAs are too malt heavy. I love the grain bill they use for the Monogamy series. I wish they would have a regular IPA with that.
