Honestly, this is probably unfair to Sam Adams, but our closest example is probably Mill Street.
Yah, I think Tankhouse is the closest parallel. Look at some old Bar Towel threads about Tankhouse versus the current opinion. And look at the places where you can get a pint (like faux-Irish pubs).

Although I've had excellent Tankhouse, and pints that were not all I had hoped. Sam Adams Lager is always good and always the same.
Creemore IS closer in parallel, actually I like a number of Creemore brews as well.

The attitude coming out of both sides of the "debate" reeks pretty strongly of "You don't like what I like, so you're wrong."

So if craft beer drinkers are so hip, why is it that I've only seen stereotypical "hipsters" swilling cheap retro brew like PBR and Labatt 50? Is there a beer out there that's completely unhip?

Miller Genuine Draught. It's actually tolerable, meaning there's not even anything to complain about.
