I'll be there on friday evening too.
I'm looking forward to sipping some fine brews from Perry and Ken.
Truths and Rights (Reggae music, consisting of departed members of Big Sugar) will be closing the show on Friday! Beer and Reggae!! Good times:)
As far as parking goes... there's lots of parking around the area... you're gunna pay no matter what. Last year I parked in the lot at the main enterance. (as far as I know, it was the main enterance). Just bring a few freinds and make them pay for parking because you spent 82 cents a litre on gas to get them there.
Cheers,
Scott

Here I was logging on to say I enjoyed the Beer Festival more this year then ever because of beers like the Major Misconduct and the 1900...and I see Perry all over the forum! My wife and I have gone every year except last (we became disenchanted by the big breweries presence) and will be back next year. I drank the Misconduct like it was single malt scotch...sip..swirl..sip.. damm it was good!
You don't know me,Perry (and I made a bad joke on your name) but I have total respect for your beer making abilities. I'll be looking for you in the future. Thanks for making the night!!

So far only one POST-Festival post, so I'll throw my hat in...
Most certainly Scotch Irish came to the Festival with something special, kudo's to Perry and the Scotch-Irish gang for bringing along the Major Misconduct and 1900. Most certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but hey, that's what the festival is all about, who wants to try 30 different Lagers??
I also really enjoyed Black Oak's 1-off extra-hoppy cask of Pale Ale, it made me extra-happy...
Thumbs down to Steelback (http://www.steelbackbrewery.com/), I wish I could STEAL BACK the ticket I gave them for my sample... What was I thinking?
Cool to see and chat with Greg, Peter2, Dan-D-Man, Cass & Joey...
I'm going to try going Friday again next year, it was more enjoyable that Saturday, far less crowded, and the staff behind the counters hadn't turned surly yet...
Cheersch,
John.

Despite my earlier post, I couldn't make it on Friday, but went Sunday instead. Similar impressions to yours, John. I obviously didn't get to try out the Major Misconduct, since you folks devoured it on Friday
, but I did enjoy the rest of Perry's fine brews, as always. And yes, that Black Oak cask was very tasty. I also finally tried Mill St. Tankhouse Ale. Yum! I quite enjoyed that as well.
Didn't get to see Cass or Joey, but I did see Greg, Peter Rabbit, Dan, JerCraigs and of course, Ken and Perry. Always a pleasure. Just missed meeting Mustang3.
For those that weren't there, it poured down for a while on Sunday. Just to make you feel even better about being there Friday.
Dunno if it's a bad sign, but Unibroue not being there was kind of a disappointment. As Perry pointed out, it may be because they have to buy their own beer at retail prices in order to provide it at the show, due to some provincial liquor BS.
Buffalo, anyone?

I heard speculation that Unibroue was absent due to the fact that Sleeman had some sort of falling out with the festival organizers a couple of years ago. That's why Sleeman & Upper Canada haven't been there for the past couple of years.Andicus wrote: Dunno if it's a bad sign, but Unibroue not being there was kind of a disappointment. As much as I like Unibroue, I can't say that I really missed them, as they never served anything except their flagship brands anyway. But for newbies, it would be nice if they were there.
Interesting. I thought that they had something special last year (can't remember what!), but that it ran out on Friday? Early Upper Canada beer and their brewery on Atlantic was the reason I started getting into micro-brewed beers. There was a Sleeman rep at a golf tourny a couple years back and he was all proud how they raised the brewing efficiency of Upper Canada from 73% to 95%...maybe you guys know what that means. Neadless to say I have found beers more to my liking as Upper Canada doesn't taste the same any more.GregClow wrote:I heard speculation that Unibroue was absent due to the fact that Sleeman had some sort of falling out with the festival organizers a couple of years ago. I was there on Friday, too. Scotch Irish was definitely the highlight: Major Misconduct was really nice, and I was also impressed with the Entire Butt Porter. Black Oak's cask ale and Saison were also very enjoyable.
It was nice to meet some people: joey_capps, Cass, GregClow, Gunny, al, DAN-D-MAN...
Unibroue's absence was curious, but no big deal, really.
