You haven't had the others, have you? I've only had the Tango. I thought after seeing the reviews on Ratebeer that there had to be some "groupthink" going on - there's not a single real rating over 0.8 out of 5. But it was that bad, if not worse. I shudder thinking about how bad this Blue Thunder could possibly be. I shudder more knowing that somebody tasted Tango and thought it was worth selling.Rob Creighton wrote: Pootz -
In order to make it through every day, I have to believe that someone actually drank this and decided it was a great idea to put it on the shelf. I know things can go wrong in processing and possibly we are all granted 1 major screw up but I believe this is one of those classic f**k ups. Nobody in their right mind could endorse this crap.

The Tiverton BT's is a truly a horrific product. Somewhere self respect has to fall into it and this product doesn't have it. I am eager to hear a glowing review of this telling me that I got a bad sample. Here's hoping.

Steelbacks

Can you see them inviting customers there for a brewery tour?? Was there not a less stigmatized place to set up at roughly the same cost? All there is in sight is the husk of the old sprung greenhouses that were heated with reactor's hot water and acres of leaky steaming pipes on the landscape....it's truely spooky...why do most brewery image makers put wildlife or mountians on their label...but steelback has muscle narcissists and nuke reactors???
Just plain bizarre marketing savvy. What frightens me Rob, is that loons like this SB outfit are out there hitting up private investors for the ven cap to tank on dead end hallucinogenic commercial visions like this. Steelback remains the enigma of the Canadian brewing industry....exactly what were they thinking and what the hell is going on with the seeming endless deep pockets of investors that keep this grade A FUBAR running? This is like something the dyslexic Feds would do if they entered the brewing industry.....like their gun registry with beer
I think you don't have to look further than the ownership and management exec. There is something uncommonly naive and inhumanly bone headed there to continue to flog this vile smut ( and go balistic at critics) rather than improve it or admit a mistake, pull out of the business and cut losses. There is something creepy about someone that would continue to try and sell a losing hand to theose who won't buy. It's like setting out to pound a square peg into a round hole.Pootz - In order to make it through every day, I have to believe that someone actually drank this and decided it was a great idea to put it on the shelf. It is foul...but there are so many things that scream "wrong way" in the whole SB marketing/business plan right down to the location of the brewery. I mean it's right beside a nuclear reactor at Douglas point ferkrissake! How dumb is that? The Tiverton BT's is a truly a horrific product. Read the troll comments on the RB site...also Joe an I both have heard rumors from other industry people that recall the owner's temperment.GregClow wrote:Has this actually happened? Be afraid. Be very afraid.joey_capps wrote:Do they actually bottle and sell this? There is no mention of a Blue Thunder on their website.Rob Creighton wrote:I've got to be careful here but you have to experience Steelback (sp?) Blue Thunder. High gravity brewing allows you to brew at 8% abv and cut with water to whatever level you desire (5% normal/pilsner, 4% light or 6% strong/ice). Labatt, Molson, Sleeman, Lakeport, Brick have long taken advantage of this for the vast array of brands from one wort that they brew. It gives capacity and efficiency.
But... Blue Thunder is one of the most interesting taste experiences I have encountered yet. In North American products, high gravity beer (8% abv) tends to be grossly unbalanced in the alcohol to body/hop ratio but works out once it is blended and filtered. This stuff is a taste phenomenon that I have trouble putting to words. I know what the bartender in Kincardine called it but I can't repeat that here. I encourage one and all who consider themselves rational judges of beer to seek out a single bottle of this and post their reactions. It is truly unique.

Somebody's tracked it down - there's already a rating for it on Ratebeer:

They are getting a little wiser. He rated Tango, but was careful not to overrate it--just gently suggests that it shouldn't be listed as the worst beer on the site.
Here we go again.
No doubt. I loved the guy who gave Tango a 4.something and Stone IPA a 1.6 because it wasn't hoppy enough.Anybody want to take bets that this is a Steelback troll.

If the moderators at RB check the ISP addy of this poster against the trolls from Steelback that attempted to skew the ratings , I'll wager they're the same. Unless this is Mr. Manning ( says he's from London) trying to skull frig the world in his alter [steelback swilling] egoBobbyok wrote:Somebody's tracked it down - there's already a rating for it on Ratebeer:
