Let’s not forget, whoever decides to do the beer run will not deliver the beer to my house or nearest LCBO. I’m all for the private order. Do we know if the cost per case would go down if more cases are purchased?

Isn't it technically illegal to send someone on a beer run?

I haven't heard one way or the other, but then again I haven't got back to the LCBO. Previous private orders of a large-ish size have seen prices drop from the original quote given by the 'BO.

Insofar as I'm aware, having someone cross provincial boundries with the amount of beer I suspect we're talking about is quite illegal.

That said, someone has offered to serve as a mule.

The upside for going thru the 'BO:

(1) Everything is legal, so there's no risk to anyone.

(2) There's no financial risk to anyone should someone not be willing/able to pony up for their order.

(3) People outside of the Toronto area have a much easier time of obtaining their order. People in T.O. have a decent window to go & pick their beer when time permits.

The upside for going with a mule:

(1) You save a bit of dosh.

For those who would like to get some DdC! brews other than the Péché, I'm sure it could be added to a private order through the 'BO, although I imagine it would have to be a full case. If we were to go through a mule, we'd have to ensure that the store(s) we'd be picking up from had stock or would be willing to order it beforehand.

FWIW, the person willing to do the beer run is aiming to be in Quebec come mid-July or so. If anyone is keen upon obtaining beer this way, please send me a PM before the 23rd of this month.

Where exactly would this person be going to buy this stuff? No Depanneur is going to have enough cases in stock to fill such an order. For example, Marché Jovi would probably have 2 to 4 cases of Peché Mortel in stock and even that's a maybe.

I'm willing to bet that if someone called ahead, they'd make an effort to have enough on hand.

st. jerome's a pain in the arse to get to, but you could always head to the brewery.

That, in part, is why there's a desire to know who'll want to go the mule route well in advance of a visit to Quebec; with enough lead time, it should be possible to have the store(s) place & receive an order to cover demand.

As for where the mule is planning to go, I do not know.

I'll be getting back to the 'BO today to see if they have any quotes available on the other DdC! beers yet, and will post 'em here when I get them.

I missed the boat on this one but if anyone has some Peche Mortel that they'd be interested in trading or selling please let me know.

I have no problem assisting the mule. I'm in Ottawa so quite close. I was at a Metro last time I was in Montreal; I believe it was off the L'eglise subway stop, and they had quite a bit on hand. upwards of 14 6-packs.

Wouldnt it be easier for you guys to get a guy from Ottawa to bring down a few cases, and in return get us Ottawa guys loaded on some Toronto or Buffalo based goodies?

50% gas split each way?

I'm down with that!! Toronto/Buffalo goodies sound tasty.

I'm surprised the Torontonian's aren't jumping all-over this offer?

Unfortunately, I won't be making it down to Buffalo again this year. But if you're looking for something in the Toronto area, or any of my gots, let me know...

Just shipping a few bottles would be cheaper than gas.
