Well things just got more interesting, now I have to figure out exactly how much beer I am going to by at Oktoberfest to take home with me, and possibly put away a bit of extra cash since I really liked the Dunkel and the Pilsner (and I already knew the Marzen was my favourite Beau's beer).

For anyone going to the fest, I'm looking forward to the talk I'm doing. I've gone through the history of the forum and site and pulled out some interesting stories - first mentions of breweries, events, that sort of thing to discuss. It should be a good talk about the past decade of Ontario beer and how community has helped shape it.

Cass - any chance the talk will be recorded (audio or video) for those of us who aren't able to make it out there?

Hey Greg - I have a portable audio recorder so I'll record it. Good idea.

It's going to be a pretty great day. I'll be volunteering at the different evens and competitions so come by and say hi!

I'm drunk. Got there late, Smashbomb was already popped. Drowned my sorrows in Sneaky Dunkel.

Wife drove home.

It was awesome and was a finely tuned machine compared to last year. We went early on Saturday with kids in tow. We drove and left early because of the kids, so had to limit our beer. Tried three of the four 'Wild Oats', Dunkel, Gose and Pils. Thought the Dunkel and Gose in particular were great. Bought a growler of the Gose and bottles of the Lugtread WTF to take home (had the WTF tonight and thought it was super). Kicking myself that I didn't make it to Volo as I love the Church Key Chocolate Porter. They did a great job of keeping the lines to a reasonable length. A great time was had by all (including the kids)...can't wait until next year.

Lugtread fermented with a weiss yeast I believe. Looked filterd so ended up with a very kristallweizen profile, but maltier and more hoppy. But then, I had quite a few of them.

Well it was a hell of an event. Good times all around. Well organized, lots of things to do and lots of great beers to be had.

Here's my talks for those that are interested. Each day was basically the same with some slight variations emphasizing different things. The microphone was open-air so it picked up other noise but I think you can hear me pretty well.
