LOL.

I am sure that the subsequent sale by the guy that bought 5 cases will start tomorrow. Long live hoarding.

I didn't get my hands on any this time around but I have too much beer anyway, so I am not heartbroken.

Good news on Facebook!!
for all you non FBers
https://www.facebook.com/blackoakbrewery
The Black Oak Brewing Company would like to apologize to all of our expectant 10 Bitter Years aficionado's, for running out of 10BY.
We are going to make more, but would request that the burning of man-bra's in protest be kept at a minimum...
For a very reasonable fee we will reveal the addresses, quantities and people who successfully obtained some 10 Bitter Years...All pitchfork wielding mobs can be directed to those personal stashes, possibly by geographic locations (via GPS using Postal Codes) or via the more effort requiring: alphabetical order.
With luck the surging mobs may be able to enjoy 10BY on tap at some of our favourite bars!!!
cheers
ken

Well done Ken!!
And just to rub salt in the wound, I got mine (thanks - you know who you are)!!! (address withheld)

Good to hear that they are making more. I recall either the last batch or the batch before that hung around the brewery for a LONG time, which probably explains why more of the current batch was kegged as opposed to bottled.

This is another sign of the growing popularity of craft beer in Ontario.

They mentioned at the brewery that some of the awards that the beer had won certainly helped, and the recent blogTO profile that mentioned "hoarding" in the title certainly helped. I was planning on going today but phoned them on the off chance yesterday morning. I was able to catch a westbound Go Train and get there quick.

Same thing happened with the Nutcracker Porter this winter. It typically lasts until March and this year it sold out in early January. When I went by to pick some up (and came home empty-handed) I was told that after a Toronto Star (?) article hyped it up, it sold out very quickly.

Word is spreading, which is a good thing. I don't mind missing out on a couple of seasonal releases if it is because of Ontario beer scene is moving forward. We all benefit from that in the long run.

Also - I do have to say, that hopefully they institute a one case per customer limit like they do at Amsterdam with Tempest...I know it seems controlling, but it means that someone can't swoop in and buy the whole lot...

i dont mind when a brewery sells out of a beer like this in days because it lets the brewery know they could sell more

i dont think a limit should be set until its selling out in a day

A great beer and great news that they sold out so quickly.

The only time I am a fan of 'limits' is at actual events such as CaskDays, etc. Those are somewhat meant for people to be able to sample a range of unique brews...so the goal is getting beers in as many different hands as possible.

Black Oak brewing Ten Bitter Years is about selling it all. The faster it sells, the better it is for both them and us. It means they'll make more. And more. And more.

You limit people to a case or two and that limits their ability to judge just how in demand this beer is.

Great job Black Oak....

Disagree about the limit thing. I have no doubt that this beer would still have sold out by today if they had a one case limit. So maybe it would have taken 72 hours instead of 48. They'd still judge it to be very in demand, and would have gotten their beer a much wider distribution.

All very true - I guess the faster it sells out, (hopefully) the more they make...Still, I was a couple of hours off....just disappointed....

Actually it was gone before Christmas... I was hoping to pick some up while I was 'home' for the holidays. One of my all-time favourites. BIG let down. The Cameron's bock was pretty good though.

Really? I was there on January 7th/8th ish and was told it had recently sold out. I assumed that meant early Jan. Selling in in December means they should make a second match this year...
