I recently bought two Black Creek Pumpkin, opened both one after the other on Saturday and were flat. I am talking hardly even more then three bubbles, no noise when opening and were terrible. I took it back the LCBO on Sunday without a receipt and they gave me my money back in cash...

I have as well, and 90% of the time, I will issue a return to a customer with no problems. But there are situations where a customer is returning product they have stolen from another store. It happens a lot. So technically, we cover our butts by having that written on the bottom of the receipts.
Always remember to wear an ascot when returning stolen scotch.
I once overheard an employee telling another about a guy he just kicked out of the store. The guy claimed the beer he was stealing in his backpack was his own that he had just happened to have brought into the store.

How do you determine the product is stolen from another store?
And what's the best way to return shoplifted merchandise?

Have you seen people just rip into an unpaid bottle in the store? I mean besides your coffee breaks.

Yes I have. It happens from time to time.
The last few examples I can recall are as follows:
Last year I was working at the cash register, when a young man (college student) purchased a 4 pack of Guiness cans from me. As soon as I bagged his purchase and gave him his change, he proceeded to reach in the bag, grab one of the cans, open it, and chug it right in front of me. I thought it was hilarious, but I had to make him aware that you could not drink in the store. Apparently it was a college hazing ritual.
Recently, an older guy purchased a mickey of smirnoff vodka from me, and when he brought it to the till, it was half empty. He had been drinking it from the bottle while walking around in the store with his friend.

was just looking at the SAQ's website regarding exchanges/returns
http://www.saq.com/webapp/wcs/stores/se ... und-policy
pretty relaxed.. even if the product wasn't purchased from the SAQ...
"The SAQ exchanges or refunds any product purchased in an SAQ outlet less than a year before, even if the purchase was made in another sales point in Quebec (outlet, agency or grocery store*). Because the product will be put on sale immediately, both the bottle and label must be in good condition. You must present the sales receipt when requesting a refund. For an exchange, the sales receipt is optional."
