10BY, IIRC, is supposed to be going to the LCBO this spring / summer.
FWIW, the difficult thing seems to be that most of the really, really tasty local beers that are also widely available are *PAs.
10BY, Crazy Canuck, Karma Citra, Boneshaker, Mad Tom, Twice as Mad Tom, Headstock, Rye PA, Netherworld (OK, not pale

) ...

OK so I'll play.
Many good options here. I'll add my vote for Boneshaker and Crazy Canuck.
I'd also throw Spearhead Moroccan Brown in. Probably because it's one of the few brown ales I like.
Oh, and on the less extreme side (i.e. more balanced) I'll cast a vote for Granite Hopping Mad.
Oh, and Ten Bitter Years.
Oh, and so on...

Pretty interesting pick, that...It's been a long while since I tried it, but didn't really dig on the date flavours. Sounds silly, but when it's bottled I might buy a six pack and age it several months to tame the fruitiness of it to try the base of the beer. I do love a nice brown ale.

Jeffrey, get thee to Bellwoods and snap up some bottles of the Grizzly Beer (if you haven't already) American Brown. She's a stunner.

Was actually thinking I should do that while passing through the west end tomorrow...American versions aren't too familiar to me, so I'll be looking forward to it...

I guess what I like is that it does not come off as a christmas cake fruit/nut concoction, for me at least. The description from Spearhead totally turns me off. I'm glad the beer tastes better than they say.
I had the same issue with their Hawaiian. Their pitch made me avoid it, but tasting it unwittingly I enjoyed it.
Maybe it's like making the mistake of selling hot dogs by describing the ingredients.

This was published in the June print issue of Toronto Life. It should be in stores now.
They gave it a really great looking two-page spread. My copy was pared way down from what I submitted, but the piece looks really good regardless.
