On the back there are two sets of numbers. I'm not sure if they're best before or bottled on dates or something else.
1st: 07.241
2nd: 01 2790
1: Jan 24, 2007?
2: ?

I'd guess Bottle date was 241st day of 2007 (August 29), second code probably batch or production run number

What a great release. It was way too easy to drop $100 for beer at the LCBO... and I didn't even get everything I wanted!
At $9.95, the Mill Street Barley Wine is a little pricie (I only got one for now & one to age). That Eisbock is one hell of a deal though!
I wasn't overly fond of the Fuller's vintage from last year, but this 2007 recipe looks promising.
The Samuel Smith is nice and dark again this year (I still have one from 2 years ago, which was considerably lighter).
I still need to get some St. Peter's Winter Ale. Last year I thought it was a cross between a English strong ale and a smoked porter... I thoroughly enjoyed it (but only managed to get a few bottles).

I am quite impressed with a few of the winter warmer release offerings - picked up some Aventinus and St Ambroise Vintage (both of which appear to have hit the shelves in critical mass now). Quite a contrast in values - the Aevntinus is a steal and as for the St A, I would forgo the fancy tube if it meant the price was more reasonable.
I still can't find the Thomas Hardy's on the LCBO website.

I'd love to try some of those winter warmers. But there is no trip to Ontario for me until March.
Have a look at what the NLC is calling "winter warmers"
http://www.occasionsmagazine.ca/NLC/the ... inter_2007
The article is good but the suggested beers are, at best, silly.
The "Storm Coffee Porter" is the ONLY porter available in Newfoundland since the de-listing of the excellent "Propeller London Porter"

Wow. I like their suggestion of a certain stout from Ireland as a winter warmer! I know we complain about the LCBO, but at least they can be relied on to put together a decent seasonal program.

Picked up one of each of what was avialable at Major Mac/Leslie. They didn't have everything on the shelf yet, but the manager was willing to grab them from the back for me. Now the only question is where to start in on this bounty.

No shit! Between laying supplies of the MSBW the Aventinus eisbock, the 3 jugs of Robertus and the couple of Jacobson packs and the sundry fullers /McAuslan/I&G vintages and the Brit strong ales I dropped $270...but I think I got some value for that.
So...Kudos where credit is due...the 'BO put a great winter release together.

The LCBO has informed us that the number for the John By Impy won't be active until the 12th of December. That means that the beer can't be shipped to them prior to that date.

that's only the right thing to do, especially considering the stuff you've brought to my place. of course, i probably wouldn't bring down a bunch of stuff that's available at your local LCBO, since that would be silly. i don't exactly have a shortage of good beer
