how'd you find that one jon? we opened one yesterday, and i think it's just a little past its prime. i've still got another one, plus '07 and '08. figure i'll do a little 4 year vertical when i can get some '09.Jon Walker wrote:2006 Stone Old Guardian
we also drank an '08 fff behemoth and an '09 central waters bourbon barrel barleywine. the behemoth was tasty as always. the bbbw was good, but seems like it needs a little time in the cellar. doesn't quite feel as "together" as the '08 batch did around this time last year.

I had an '06 on the weekend. It was very good, though I hadn't had it previously, so I can't compare it.grub wrote:how'd you find that one jon? we opened one yesterday, and i think it's just a little past its prime. i've still got another one, plus '07 and '08. figure i'll do a little 4 year vertical when i can get some '09.Jon Walker wrote:2006 Stone Old Guardian

i've previously had 2 year old bottles (the '05 in '07 being the most recent) and LOVED it. tons of depth and complexity. this one seemed to have lost most of that, and i even got a bit of oxidation on it. could be batch-to-batch differences though too. i know the '05 IRS is the best i've ever had - both fresh and aged. more recent batches just paled by comparison.SteelbackGuy wrote:I had an '06 on the weekend.
