Got it at Wilson yesterday. Still a fine beer but does the fancy box account for the $1.60 price jump?squeaky wrote:Aventinus is finally showing stock at somewhere that isn't Pickering.

Man, what's with Ontario being a Mead wasteland? I'm not much of a rating hound, but RB puts this one at 11 overall and 2 for style... 2!spinrsx wrote:Rogue Farms 19 Colonies Mead

Our other option is like, what, Trafalger? Isn't there a craft mead movement in the US (B. Nektar or even, like, Moonlight)? Why, when Ontario has historically had a fairly powerful Beekeepers Association (Ontario Beekeepers' Association since 1881! They used to be the shit at the Ex at the turn of the century!), do we still not have just one decent mead option? A cider 24-tap takeover before one meadery opens its doors? What gives!?
I think mead may have a slight image problem, such as kingly men fopping around in wigs and frilly lace, you know, not of this past century.groulxsome wrote:What gives!?
I would look forward to a resurgence of the mead alco beverage here as in the USA. The associated style of dress, not so much...

In Beerum Veritas
We had a discussion about meaderies on the GTA Brews facebook page the it seems to reason there are so few meaderies is because of the AGO regulations:groulxsome wrote:What gives!?
"I've looked into the details of opening a meadery and without diving into too much, fermentation must be at the same location as where you extract the honey (honey houses are very expensive and under health regulations) and you must own a minimum of 100 hives and use at least 60% of your own honey. So basically if you want to make mead in Ontario you need to be a large beekeeper and also have the costs of fermentation (and lots of aging space). Beyond that AGCO generally treats you as a wine producer."

Natural Selection Bc Craft Brewers Sampler Pack is showing stock now. Has anyone seen it? Are the beers different from last summers BC mix pack?

Hopefully this pack will be better then the terribly infected bottle of Dead frog I got in the pack last year. It didn't help matters that I sent a polite email to dead frog and was completely ignored.spinrsx wrote:Natural Selection Bc Craft Brewers Sampler Pack is showing stock now. Has anyone seen it? Wow. That's a mixed bag for sure. A couple of awful beers, a couple serviceable brews and Four Winds Saison (?!?). I haven't had FW staight-up saison, but have enjoyed everything I've tried from them. Hard to justify a whole pack for just that beer though.spinrsx wrote:Natural Selection Bc Craft Brewers Sampler Pack is showing stock now. Has anyone seen it? I've heard of beer porn before, but it's never been so explicit...
