Oh swell!!! Well, you won't believe the conversation I had with the manager at the Dundas location!

A CSR at the Dundas store told me they have ordered one case but it has not arrived yet. A CSR at the Dundurn store told me they had received one case but that it was reserved for "Brian". I assumed that Brian was you. If it isn't you. my middle name is Brian and I may have to claim the case for myself!Hamilton Brian wrote:Gunny wrote:Brian,Hamilton Brian wrote:![]()

Salut,

That's funny. That's me alright. I've been on them...not mercilessly...but definitely on them. I've never asked for much. They turned the little beer store that could into an alco-pop warehouse, and I didn't say much. They took away the Anchor Liberty, and barely a peep. The least they can do is meet my simple request.A CSR at the Dundas store told me they have ordered one case but it has not arrived yet. Salut,
Jeff
Why haven't they called me yet, though? I better stop in tomorrow afternoon.

WOW, when I picked up my case of dfh at the Pickering store on Brock at about 2:30 they had 4 cases (after I took mine) and a full shelf of singles, I checked the website tonight and they only have the singles left, this stuff is moving FAST. Does anyone really know if this is a one shipment situation or is there more on the way. Amazing how fast the 60 min. is going and that there is still some chicory stout floating around.
The 60 Minute is featured in Jon Filson's weekly beer article in the Star tomorrow. I can't imagine this will make it any easier to get one's hands on.

FYI: I picked up a couple cases last night at the Dundas and East Mall LCBO. It was an interesting experience because the manager touched on a few of the points that have been discussed in the forums.
At first he couldn't find the product. Someone else on staff mentioned that they had heard about it. He did an inventory check and went to check the back and brought out a case. I told him that I'd take it and another case if he had it. His response:
He couldn't believe that I'd wanted so much. He said that he had thought of trying the beer but figured it sucked because it was from the U.S. He was VERY surprised that a seasonal would move so much because, in his own words, "they always seem to be on the shelf forever."
After writing down the product code he said he'd be ordering another 5 cases... and trying some for himself.

If the demand for this item were to prompt a regular listing of DFH 60 Minute, that could be one very big toe in the door for US micros here (if still interested), which in turn could encourage Ontario Micros to be more bold like their US counterparts.
If this 60 Minute IPA sells as fast as the LC can ship it... what a wake-up call for them about some very incorrect assumptions - ie. 'extreme' styles, American brewers, and the public acceptance of those styles & brewers here.
Crystal Ball: I bet we see oodles of 60 minute here next spring, $2.50 a bottle., with a gushing point-of-sale description about its popularity here (and, by implication their great Vision in making it such a success.) Right now it's showing everywhere on lcbo.com.
(Footnote: I enjoyed the 60 minute very much last night, quite full and smooth, I almost expected it to be a little drier like the Scotch Irish Sgt Major's IPA, which to my thinking is a definite must-try to compare the two in their big grapefruity, resiny hops & overall balance; both wonderful Imperial Pales.)

Finally, some DFH showed up in the London area. It wasn't on the website, just happened to find 3 cases at the first store I called. They hadn't even put any out on display yet. Grabbed 1 case for now, as I still have a case on order at my local, but this should tie me over for now. Maybe!
Interestingly, my case happened to be numbered 505 of 800.

Call the Highland Ave LCBO, they have one case on order for me, but it will not likely be in until next week. Spoke to them today and the London warehouse shows lots of cases still remaining but nothing in transit to K-W. Since I'll be in Brampton tomorrow for work, I'll buy a case there. They were cool with that, saying that if I did not want the case that they would put it on the shelf to sell. Give them a call.Zithal wrote:Apparently, everywhere does not yet include the Kitchener/Waterloo area. *sigh*.Belgian wrote:Right now it's showing everywhere on lcbo.com.
Yeah. Did that yesterday. I'm just an impatient little bugger, esp. considering that tonight's a free night for me and an excellent chance for continuous samples...Beer Geek wrote:Call the Highland Ave LCBO, they have one case on order for me, but it will not likely be in until next week. Yeah, most of the world completely forgets about Kitchener and Waterloo...Zithal wrote:Apparently, everywhere does not yet include the Kitchener/Waterloo area. *sigh*.Belgian wrote:Right now it's showing everywhere on lcbo.com.
I'm only kidding!
(But how 'bout I call you "Small Town"?)
