That being said, when it came out last time it didn't seem to fly out of the bars...
I can see that. While I'm very keen to get a six-pack (even for $75), I would not be inclined to pay $35-40 for one bottle. Not sure why. I suppose I might do it as a once in a lifetime thing, but even then I doubt it. Plus the bar has to keep it 3-4 years in inventory before it reaches its maximum potential ....

It just seemed last time, when it was the first time Westy 12 was in Ontario and it had just as much hype as it always has, nobody seemed to rush out to try it. I felt $40 was pretty reasonable considering all the hoopla that surrounds Westy but could easily be had around town.

Not that I doubt this batch will fly off the shelves, but just like DFH or Ola Dubh or anything that initially had lots of buzz, if Westy comes back it will likely be readily available as most people in Ontario won't be buying lots of $75 6-packs.

My anxiety level about this is really shooting up again - I just wish it would be released, even if I missed it. It's better than this dragging it out.

It's just beer. It's just beer. It's just beer.

Part of me also wishes they waited until later in the day when everyone's off work. Of course, who knows when they bring it out on the floor.

Ok - I have to LITERALLY go take a pill.

Exactly. If it was in fact delivered last night (as the post above re Guelph store indicates, for example) that means it will be sitting around in various stores for two days before it goes out on the floor? Doesn't make sense. I can see a fair bit of it disappearing before it even hits the floor, or it coming out in dribs and drabs at different stores. Perhaps I am off base here.

How many of these end up on Craigslist? Thought I saw some speculator types milling around the LCBO this morning (about 10 people waiting, most of whom disappeared when the guy opening the store said "if you are here for the beer, we don't have it.").

And it looks like most LCBO staff are as much in the dark about the arrival of this product as we are.

Just called the Ancaster location and was told they do not have it and he doesn't know when they will get it. From his tone he sounded kind of annoyed...I might not have been the first person to call him this morning asking that question.

Nah, that's just what Meadowlands does to a person.

Just called a Total Wine location in North Carolina to see if I could pre pay for a pack and have my brother in law pick it up tomorrow. Lady said they've had a lot of calls in the last week for the same thing.

They are limiting release to 1 pack per customer on a first come first serve basis, AND they expect a line up.

Things are bad all over, but at least they're real friendly about it down there!

There will be blood... and sparky visual effects!

You're not off base. It can be very willy-nilly.

It sounds like stores want to try to be a bit coordinated in this case, since a million people are asking them about it. If ALL stores released on Thursday, with no hold-backs, no favors, first-come basis / one per visit - that would seem professional and fair.

We'll find out soon! And it won't be just 18 bottles per million people this time (one lucky person out of fifty-five thousand for a bottle of Deus.)

I dropped by my LCBO (Dupont and Spadina) this morning to check when they might be expecting it. The guy just said that they are expecting it in a end-of-day shipment someday this week (maybe tonight?) and that if you want the beer you are going to have to be there at 10, waiting in line either tomorrow or Thursday.

I don't really mind waiting in line to get the beer (BA Tempest was worth it) but I don't like the idea of waiting in line to find out if they have the beer. I wish they'd issue a statement! At this point I might just have to head up to my LCBO before 10 every morning until it comes out...

just got off the phone with LCBO #25 in Peterborough. It sounded like lots of people have been calling, she recommended calling the info line.

She explained that they had put in a request, but doesn't expect any to come here.

Of course, when most people are at work. 10 am isn't exactly the best time for most people.

There really has to be a better way to run this. I'm fortunate enough to have schedule that allows for waiting in a line at 10 am, but I cannot imagine that many people do. It's a bit hard to tell a supervisor or boss, "oh, sorry, I have to leave work at 9:30 this morning to go buy some beer."

Anyway, it seems like enough people do have time off, if the reports of the line at Queen's Quay are any indication!
