You do realise that the strip label was probably produced by the supplier/agent and not the LCBO? Even so, still poor form placing a strip label on the front of the bottle.

I know its the importer and I'm mostly kidding, but it is the LCBO regulations that make it neccesary, do they do that in Edmonton?
If it were a different abv from testing, it would serve a purpose. If it lacked bilingual info, it would also serve a purpose (the majority of the bottle is in French anyways). The only reason it's needed is to notify you of it's extra srong-ness.

It's got absolutely NOTHING to do with the liquor boards. Label regulations are governed by the CFIA. If a products label doesn't meet the criteria set out bu this Government agency then either the supplier produces a label that conforms to Canadian standards or they pay for the application of strip labels. This is a Government rule, and even in the free market of Alberta, we have to abide.

I deal with this all the time on certain wines we bring into Alberta because the cost of applying an unsightly strip label is cheaper than producing a label that conforms to the Canadian regulations.

I guess from a cost perspective that makes sense for a smaller brewer, or importer with smaller amounts.

Not really, as the cost of printing in house and then having the Connect warehouse apply the labels is not that cheap. And if it's a mutli case per year purchase the cost soon adds up. Plus, strip labels look bloody awful!

Rearry, REARRY srong.

And the BARLEY MALT warning is supposed to protect gluten-intolerant people from the perfectly reasonable process of Darwinian selection.

For those looking for a new wheat beer glass. Weihenstephan has a tree pack plus glass at LCBO right now. Included in the box; their hefe, dunkel, and kristall. Broke my Erdinger glass a few months back. Glad to have a replacement now with three solid beers as well. Roughly $15 it and a headstock came to $17.60 I think (didn't keep receipt).

Cool - I actually have a muskoka one, but find it's great for a 473ml serving but doesn't quite fit a full half litre with a good head, so I'll probably be picking one of these up.
