I partially blame BT for inciting a mob mentality in the GTA. This should make the news tonight.

Is anyone up to putting together a quick list of stores that we know got stock and sold out? And stores that are supposed to get stock, but haven't yet?

God no. It will only encourage more pre dawn line ups

It sounds like it was less of a hassle to fly all the way to Belgium to get it there...

I think perhaps some are overreacting a bit. It wasn't a mob, nor was it much of a hassle, at least at Summerhill where I was. It was an orderly and well organized process for a product in high demand (for whatever reason). Far more of a hassle to get to Pearson, let alone fly to Belgium.

I was at Dupont and Spadina. They had 40 6-packs this morning. Small line, very civil (I got there at 9:40, and was about 14th in line and soon expats from the Y&SH and QQ lines started arriving). One fellow in line was clearly an alcoholic though, who took the Westy at first (they handed them out as we entered) and upon realizing the price put it back in favour of two little bottles of amber rum.

The line was not 40 people long, so by the time everyone had got their allotment there were 9 left over on the trolly. They might be gone by now, but that's how many were left for that store. So, cross it off the list of stores that have received stock.

Very smooth transaction and service too. Happy I could find it at my local too, which is only a 4 minute walk from my place.

Oh, and one of the 6-packs had a broken glass (like, legit, not like "whoops, we broke it"), so they put it in the back room. I wonder what happens to damaged Westy 6-packs? Bin sales?

I think most are a little disappointed at how quickly these packs are selling out and how hard you must work to get them. I'd say those who got it, are certainly deserving, because they got there early in the morning and waited in the cold weather for the store to open. But I think the LCBO as a whole, should have gotten a larger quantity of these gift packs to begin with, though I'm not sure if that was possible.

With the rumors of it sitting unsold on liquor store shelves in Edmonton you'd think Ontario would have gotten more than Alberta....

Oakville will have 30 six-packs on sale tomorrow (Thursday) morning. They expect the line to start forming tonight and are telling people not to bother if there are more than 30 in line.

Regarding the list of stores being kept above, I can confirm Summerhill only got 80 packs for whatever reason. Manager said they were not getting any more. They also had some breakage on the glassware and put the damaged ones aside, he said, to be offered to staff on a lottery basis. The packaging itself is pretty flimsy.

Actually, just spoke to the guy who runs the ordering, he said they will actually have them out Friday morning at the Oakville location.
