Dogfish Head 60 Minutes
It is incredible beer. If anything on the label is different than it says, that's a big funny. VERY ironic that the LCBO finally let it out of the warehouse & still the information is wrong!John Aitken wrote:I just found a thread on The Beer Advocate discussing that it is not b/c anymore, and possibly hasn't been for up to a year, but they have lots of labels to still use.
We should e-mail the LC droogs and complain bitterly that this mis-labelling is destroying societal norms and civil peace. "If only it had been bottled conditioned, woe to us all!!"

Some of the strays are still in the stores...either on the wrong shelf behind something else, in the end bin, in the wrong box in the store room or in an employees stash. Bottom line, there's next to none still available for customers in the GTA unless the happen upon the odd bottle by chance.
Further reason why I was glad to have stocked up early.

sweetback, what store is that? If there is a "promotion" of any kind going on as I would be involved as the agent. The beer is virtually sold out except in Eastern Ontario where it has just arrived so there's not much point in "promoting" something that's gone! Sounds like another example of a store person who doesn't have a clue what's going on but often it's not their fault as they're given virtually no info from head office on these issues.

I lament that there was only one case that I purchased. Seems the Dundurn store got 5 bottles in at some point then they were gone before I arrived. As a tide-me-over I sought out some Black Oak Pale Ale. I had to travel to Burlington to get even 12 of those and had to get a 12 of Magnotta IPA to fill my 24 quota.
Oh, Great Divide order, where art thou?
If anything, this just is a means to kick myself in the rear and get brewing again real soon.

But if they're given no information why are they pretending they have information? Excuse me but that makes no sense unless they're lying, basically, which does fault them considerably.esprit wrote:Sounds like another example of a store person who doesn't have a clue what's going on but often it's not their fault as they're given virtually no info from head office on these issues.
I don't regret getting a few cases of the IPA, but guys in future, don't wait to see if something like this sells out first. You can always buy a case or two of something 'hot' and then take 1-2 weeks to chill & decide if you want to keep it, rather than stress over it. LC refunds any reasonable returns. I've rarely returned anything actually so that has been a good practice to build a wonderful little "cellar" of choices on hand.I lament that there was only one case that I purchased.

esprit, it was the brampton store, the one one in the orion gate plaza. What I dont understand is the lcbo website, why is it when you do a search some stores return high numbers in the 100-70 range, (i have not bother calling the actual stores becasue there out of my range), but then everyone says theres none available province wide? so is the invetory tracker on the website totally screwed or are empoyees hording the beer?

Simply put, there is still some DFH 60 min available in the province but it is generally in the Ottawa area and in small amounts at various rural stores elsewhere in the province. The GTA is sold out barring a few odd bottles here and there.sweetback wrote:esprit, it was the brampton store, the one one in the orion gate plaza. Stores are supposed to update the website with stock numbers daily (most do). But when you go on the LCBO website you are always looking at the number of bottles available whenever the last report was filed. If that was 24 hours ago then the numbers aren't all that accurate, particularly for a hot seller like this.
Bottom line, don't depend on the LCBO website, merely use it as a guide. Call stores prior to making a special trip and speak to someone who knows what they are talking about. But in the case of the DFH, unless you've already made arrangements to get some you are pretty much SOL unless you live in Ottawa or are willing to drive there.
Are you on glue?? I would cut my grass everyday just to have a refreshing bottle of this beer.lister wrote:I still don't understand the appeal of hoppy beers. They certainly aren't tasty nor refreshing.
I understand that you are not a fan of hoppy beer and prefer extract laced fruit beers, but come on, this is likely one of the best beers we will ever see in this province. You sure have one interesting palette. I’ll make sure to leave all of the summer release beers for you.
Nope, just have a different palette than many of you. I'm hardly alone in this regard. I know a number of "beer geeks" that drink all sorts of beer styles except for the hoppy ones.Beer Geek wrote:Are you on glue?? I would cut my grass everyday just to have a refreshing bottle of this beer.
Excuse me but I like far more than just extract laced fruit beers. Geez, I have posted other styles I like too including even the odd porter or two. And I'd like to point out, I do make an effort to try different stuff, particularly at festivals. I probably try more beers than many of you here since you dismiss sweet and/or fruity beers entirely.I understand that you are not a fan of hoppy beer and prefer extract laced fruit beers, but come on, this is likely one of the best beers we will ever see in this province. Oh and thanks for leaving the summer brews, my tastebuds thank you.
(I certainly don't insult anyone who disagrees with my opinion...)

I'm somewhere in the middle - not a 'gimme hops till they hurt then some" kinda guy, but I can tolerate one or maybe two fairly hoppy IPA's like DFH or Sgt Majors.
There can be something sooo gratifying in the dry citrusy bite and the fullness of taste & aroma in well hopped beer - which is why as a "thirst" beer people often lean towards bohemian pilsners and pale ales. I just can't over-do it or it becomes tedious, like drinking too many powerful red wines! It needs a rest to be again enjoyable.
