Manul, I'm sure that Peter will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain that he has little say over what products the LCBO will carry and what ones they won't. While he may make suggestions, the LCBO uses their own arcane methods to decide what they will carry - and since Dead Guy and Wils Irish Rogue have done fairly well for them in the past, they will likely stick with what they know.

So for now, you'll have to stick with Esprit's consignment customers like Joe's and the Academy Of Spherical Arts to get your fix of other Rogue products. Or get a case or two directly from Esprit yourself.

I was at the Bayview Village location yesterday and they don't have any of the new releases yet, however they did have about 50 Schlenkerla, several 6 packs of McAuslan Apricot Wheat and other interesting selections...

Yes, what are the beers available on consignment? The section of the site with the Esprit and Rubayat beers is dated to '02, so I'm guessing the selection has changed. Could this be updated?

In regards to Rogue, we have presented many of Rogue's products to the LCBO and they have regularly been rejected. They buy Dead Guy and Wild Irish because they have a good track record. Chocolate Stout did very well earlier this year but they refused to re-order it for 2004 so even good performance is no guarantee. You will be seeing Yellow Snow Ale in November....and Lexicon, if you want our current list, send me an e-mail at esprit@primus.ca....I'll update it over the weekend and will send Cass a copy for posting on the bartowel.

FYI, I checked the LCBO website this morning and it now shows all kinds of Rogue Dead Guy out there in the stores although only St. Lawrence Market and Bloor and Royal York in Toronto but that's the status as of yesterday so I can only guess that a lot more stores have it by now.

Incidentally - I am working on a site called lcboconsignment.com that will, hopefully, list all SORTS of consignment stuff available in "real-time" etc ... this is my initiative but i would love to bring others on board -- peter -- you in .. ?!

I would LOVE to see this. The only drawback I see to the way you've phrased it is that it sounds like it would only list currently available (i.e. in stock) consignment items. I'm basing this on your real-time comment. (Pardon me if I'm mistaken.) I'd also like to see what can be ordered, even with a significant waiting period.

Without starting up on an old theme, my understanding is that agents can in *theory* order you just about anything. The minimum qty you need to order to make it worthwhile and cost of bringing in something that is not already on their list, may not be attractive/practical for most of us.

Essentially, when you purchase product that is on their "list" (which is what I expect Cass would be making available?) you take advantage of their economies of scale and get a better price.

Deuchars, Bishop's Finger and Spitefire have hit the shelves, well some shelves. Picked some up at the Front Street location near the St. Lawrence Market. Finally some new beer at the LCBO!

True, but I believe the different importers represent different breweries, so you still need to know what can "possibly" be brought in through each of them, if you are willing to spend the money.

Good point, I had forgotten about that...

I checked out 8 stores in the Ottawa area for the Fall Seasonals (Hey, I don't often get use of a car, okay?) and NONE of the LCBOs I checked have them.

That is about 1/4 of the LCBOs in the Ottawa area.

The top answers from their educated staff usually are:

1. "Hey Keith, you know anything about fall seasonal beers?"

2. "Maybe the website is wrong?"

3. "Have you checked the beer section?"

Who are these clowns? I talked with one extensively about her fully-paid winery visits' throughout the Niagara enscarpment.

Are they not informed or do they ONLY hire individuals with A.D.D.?

I can vouch for CapFlu. I was in Ottawa yesterday and decided to try the LCBO on Montreal St. (their flagship, w/the Vintages "cellar"). The guy I (tried to) talk to was not aware of any Fall Release and kept pointing out what was left of the summer release.I was then, quite rudely, brushed off. I still can't believe how the LCBO can get away with this type of service!

Anyone knows where Fuller ESB can be found? For me this is the highlight of the fall release.
