Just back from the Queer Beer Fest, and must say that there were no crowds at all! Flying Monkeys has gone overboard with there fruit beers this year...Mango Tango, Georgia Peach, Orange, Citrus, Strawberry, Grape Ape, and I'm sure there are one or two more that I missed. Unfortunately Great Lakes hadn't opened up any of there Caskapalooza offerings, but of what I did see the Blood Orange looked interesting. Some really good offerings from the Quebec brewers, though they were all double the cost of the majority of the beers.
From now on I might take a pass on the regular beer festival and head to the Queer Beer Festival since the crowds were non-existent & it was really easy to talk to the brewers.

I worked the beerfest yesterday. Could talk to people from 3-5. But from 5-11 it was head-down beer pouring. I also had to break up a fight—that was great. :o

If you're looking for a good "let's get drunk" time, Friday & Saturday would be really great I'm sure. But if you're looking for a "let's talk about beer" time, Thursday & early Sunday are the only days to consider.

QC booths were great though... but then, I just use the tokens from our booth so the extra cost doesn't affect me.

Agreed. QC was the place to be. Less crowded as it was off the beaten track in a corner. There were food trucks there, so a few good beers and eats were able to be had in a tame environment. I was there around 6 pm. Maybe it got goofy later on.

And the cast beers were great! I had Hibiscus and Hopfenweiss .

Crowds got all fratty and sh!t after 7 pm. But before that, it was a great time. Wife and I spent $150 (including the tix...and $40 worth of shirts) and drank and ate all we could handle. Not a crazy number for a good night out.

Lots of good beers around. Major Beer companies presence was minimal.

I managed to sneak out of work early, so i got to the festival before 4pm. Stayed mainly at the QC pavilion, which was great, and left by 7-7:30. Probably because of that reason, crowds were never an issue. Have to admit I was a little disappointed by the Great Lakes offerings, but the Keep6 beers made the trip worthwhile.

My friends and I spent most of our time at the Quebec Pavillion which was a quieter spot with some great beer. The overall festival was busy but there was lots of grass and shade to be found, and the food was good and widely available around the whole festival. I'd consider going again.

These were my favourites:

Hopfenstark Boson D’Higgs (Berliner Rauch Saison) - nice subtle smokiness. My favourite saison of the festival. The other saisons were a bit too heavy or spiced for me.

Les Trois Mousquetaires Weizenbock - wow, serious sherry flavours. I want to sip this all winter long.

Le Trou Du Diable Scheive Tabarnak (Old Style Ale) - awesomely unexpected slight tartness which was perfect on a hot day.

Does anyone know offhand if these are all bottled and generally available?I'll be in Montreal next weekend and wouldn't mind picking up a few.
