That was all Canadian 2-row & homegrown Cascade. I didn't want it too dry, so I mashed in at 158F! Even the US-05 only got 67% attenuation. I liked it fresh, but now that the hops are fading, I don't think they stand up to the 1.018 final gravity.

Ola Dubh 12 Year Old Single Malt
Peche Mortel Coffeel Imperial Stout

I appreciate these more all the time. Especially after a hard day's work.

Don't know. I can only speak for myself and I'd be quite happy to have it here as a long term option I could go back to in the way that, say, I pick up a couple of bottles of Liberty Ale or a sixer of Anchor Steam every now and again when I want a good, solid, familiar, comfort beer.

Anyway, to get back on topic, last night I polished off a bottle of Chimay Red while watching Ricky Gervais bomb at the Golden Globes.

I think I should have chilled it a bit more than I did.

I actually wanted to have this one a bit later in the week, but my bottle of Hoptical Illusion chipped at the spout when I opened the bottle....

Me too. I just mean the brand success might be greater if SN were allowed more exposure of different products! Brooklyn Lager all by itself didn't do much for that brand here did it? Sales indicate this.

These USA brewers should be allowed to sell a small 'line' so the SNPA drinker can at times switch to the (also excellent) Porter, or try the Harvest a few times, and still go back to the SNPA later on. Drinking ONE SN beer all the time would be slightly boring, and thus not as good for the brewer's success! Having a choice creates more brand interest & customer loyalty.

I think, for example Southern Tier might be getting a solid 'hook' in our market, at least for the very good IPA and the Brulee Stout (perhaps even the decent Porter is helping it a little.) It will be interesting to see how this brewer is allowed to flourish in our system!
