I hate you homebrewers... (no I don't really.) "Ahh, I think I'll make a Saison today!" "Or maybe a Chouffe clone." You guys are going to get me doing that one day.

well there isn't much of an alternative. there are so many styles that aren't available in ontario, and it's not possible for me to be running to the states every weekend for a beer run. plus it's just fun making your own.

alas, my keg of saison finally kicked a little over a week ago, but it isn't all bad since that gave me room in the fridge for the keg of quad.

on deck and probably going into kegs tonight: alt and american barleywine. probably move the peated+smoked wee heavy over to the barrel, and might check on the status of that imperial saison.

It smelled delicious. Can't wait for it to be bottled later this year.

Duggan's #9 IPA - Bottle fom the brewery. VERY good. What a stunning looking 4-pack. Looking forward to trying this with all different foods such as takeout Indian and spiced chicken on the gas grill.

Myself as well. It's great fresh. Had it with a chili with great northern beans and barley... how could I go wrong but pair it with a fine "malty" IPA.

Followed by the 10w30. Dude, this beer is underrated.

Oh yeah... and the homebrew BHA is still drinking nicely.

yeah, the peated wee heavy smells great. the beer will go into the barrel this weekend.

kegged the alt and most of the barleywine - the rest of the bw going into tertiary with bourbon oak. and 5gal of qaud also got bourbon oak and cherries for some tasty bourbon cherry quad.

oh yeah, and this year's imperial saison broke our current record for strongest beer - 13.23%abv. the scary part is that it drinks more like 8%ish...

John By. One of the better bottles I've had from this year's batch. The first couple had very low carbonation and poured with pretty much zero head, but tonight's was just right. Still thin and hard to enjoy it like an imperial stout, but I really appreciate it on its own merits.

+1 - amazing toffee and nut flavors. Is it a great cooking beer, I'd like to braise something in it... gonna buy a kick-ass Dutch Oven soon., hee hee... like that will make me a better cook (can't hurt.)
