I'm pretty sure the Rogue is old stock. I bought a couple bottles in Mississauga back in July or August, and there seemed to be a few dozen in the system when I checked their site.Belgian wrote:Other than highlighted, none are in the lcbo.com system. None of highlighted are showing stock, except the Rogue which may just be very old stock
The Westmalle Dubbel might still be there because there's still some to be found as part of the Westmalle Gift Pack.
The only Weihenstephaner I see in the system is the Hefeweissbier, not the dunkel.
I'm sure the Rogue is old stock. I remember I did a search for Rogue back when the Brutal Bitter was here (April or May?) and I noticed they had the Hazelnut Brown at those exact same locations as they are listed now. I'm not sure what the shelf life is on the Hazelnut Brown, but I'd avoid those bottles since we have fresh ones coming in at some point.TJ wrote:I'm pretty sure the Rogue is old stock. Just imagine if the frequent WINE releases at Vintages were handled this way... and if on the release date, we have no products in the stores, none showing in the online inventory - just rumored talk going around about lab tests, warehouse status, import / clearance hold-ups and so on.
I don't think it would be going out on a limb to suggest that outraged wine drinkers would see this as a massive lack of pre-planning on the part of the LCBO. They really don't seem to give a crap about beer releases.
In Beerum Veritas
Is that the store across from the cemetery in Port Huron, near the lakeshore? When we go to Sarnia to visit the in-laws, I occaisionly go there to see what is thereSteelbackGuy wrote:Raisy wrote:SteelbackGuy wrote:
Yes, sorry. I did not convey my thoughts properly.
What I meant was that I can't get DDC at Ryan's Party Store in Port Huron. A 45 minute drive for me, as opposed to the 2.5-3 hours to the Detroit area.
All the stores I've been in recently still seem to have lots of summer stock left over, and I noticed today that a number of the summer releases have discounts on them (good buys on the margriet and christoffel). I wonder whether the fall release is being held up by slowr than expected sales of the summer crop, and some shelf space is being cleared first?
This makes perfect sense actually. My local (well, the store I frequent most often despite not actually being anywhere near my home) just got Sam Adams Summer Ale in, and it's not even listed on the LCBO website anymore.Bobsy wrote:All the stores I've been in recently still seem to have lots of summer stock left over, and I noticed today that a number of the summer releases have discounts on them (good buys on the margriet and christoffel). Then again, the LCBO isn't really into the whole 'logic' thing, and my gut-feeling tells me there's some sort of Wicked Witch of the West-esque monster cackling away at LCBO HQ on top of a bunch of boxes of Fall Release stuff...

Yes it is. A great little shop so visit if you are in the area, plus there is also a brewery in Port Huron called Quay Street Brewery. They are actually a brewpub and you can buy growlers to take home as well.Ghost542 wrote:SteelbackGuy wrote:Raisy wrote: Is that the store across from the cemetery in Port Huron, near the lakeshore? If you`re reading this, there`s a 15% chance you`ve got a significant drinking problem. Get it fixed, get recovered!
I sure as hell hope not; we could be in for a long wait. Because, yeah. I've noticed that too, that the summer release doesn't exactly appear to have been a smashing success. Last night I was in the Summerhill location and they still had a good amount of Margriet, Edelweiss, Hop Back Summer Lightening, Christoffel, and a metric buttload of ST Raspberry Wheat.Bobsy wrote:All the stores I've been in recently still seem to have lots of summer stock left over, and I noticed today that a number of the summer releases have discounts on them (good buys on the margriet and christoffel). Anyway, I noticed Southern Tier's porter is in the system but not in stores. Westmalle Dubbel and Erdinger's Dunkel are in with stock in a few locations. So here's hoping things are trickling in, albeit it at a glacial pace.
hey maybe the LCBO will learn that if......oh wait, nevermindTJ wrote:I sure as hell hope not; we could be in for a long wait. Because, yeah. shitty release = shitty sales
This is what happens when you have central planning, you cannot possibly know what the market will want. If private stores were just allowed to order beer for themselves without all the BS testing of the LCBO and ridiculous labelling requirements, they could just do a small order and if it sells they can order more. The LCBO plans out a whole big release and if there are excess or shortages, then too bad.matt7215 wrote:hey maybe the LCBO will learn that if......oh wait, nevermindTJ wrote:I sure as hell hope not; we could be in for a long wait.
