Just tried this tonight.
Daaaaaaaaamn! I might even put this neck-and neck with Dennison's. My memories of Dennisons on tap put Dennisons ahead, but I'd put Howe Sound ahead of recent Dennisons cannings. I'd love to do a side-by side. The only thing I could remotely criticise about King Heffy is that the alcohol starts to come out a little more than I'd like as it approaches room temp. It's just a massive banana-clove monster with tons of more subtle complexities making it a very intriguing beer.

Spent the weekend in Grand Bend and had the following:
Hop City Lawn Chair Classic Weisse (tap)
Zywiec Beer (bottle)
Delirium Tremens (tap)
Pilsner Urquell (tap)
Phillips Amnesiac Double IPA (bottle)
Glad to see that this beach town is becoming less of a beer wasteland, with Paddington's Pub and Black Dog Bistro offering some nice alternatives to the standard Big Three brands. The Phillips of course was part of my own stash.

It really is quite quaffable; I've yet to get to the point where the beer warms up and the alcohol 'comes out'. Though, after the 2nd bottle you do start to feel it
Hopefully their new seasonal Pumpkineater arrives soon.

Route des Epices last night - I don't really like the hot peppercorn flavors by itself, but blended with Aphrodisiacque it's really, really nice.
That's right, cocoa vanilla and pepper blend together beautifully.

I bet it does! Lagunitas does something very similar, sans vanilla, with their Ruben and the Jets peppercorn impy stout, which is delicious.

With pizza last night, Super Bock from Portugal. I always liked this beer, having discovered it in Portugal on a cycling trip some years ago. The current one at LCBO seems hardly two months old judging by the best-by coding, and it shows in the palate. It strikes me as a kind of cross between a good German pils and Molson Export (6-row barley malt, maybe?). Well balanced and full-tasting.
