Chimay Blue, circa 1999 if I understand the date code properly (LAH-272). Glorious.

Blackberry Porter from Cannery Brewery in Pendicton, bottles freshly released (and in fresh condition) at Davisville LCBO. First-rate porter with deep, balanced flavours, good natural roasty taste (I believe roast malts are used but not roast barley), and the fruit is subtle as befits a fruited porter IMO. Well done.

Laurelwood Organic Portland Espresso Stout followed by Deschutes Obsidian Stout. I know I had them the wrong way around, but I'm draining my old Pacific NW stash before buying fresh stuff next week.

The Laurelwood was wonderful.

Pinkus Ur Pils. Bought this one just because I'd never tried it and didn't expect much. I was thinking it would probably be a ho-hum cereal grainy Germal pils but was very pleasantly surprised. It turned out to be an unfiltered, grassy, slightly estery delight. If I didn't know any better, I would have called it a Kellerbier.

had a bottle of the great lakes miami weissendunkle tonight. Its a black wheat ipa, and it was awesoome. Notes of molasses, chocolate, and espresso. With a nice wallop of american c hops. Really impressed me with this offering.

Lot of love in Pinkus Muller beers, they make beautifully soft and round lagers with delicate flavors. I grabbed an armload from an organics store while staying in Hamburg years back!

I'm drinking Dieu du Ciel Aprodite, it's a little smoky and hoppy this time and I love it. What a beer to have in LC stores!

I had this at C'Est What last night and was also impressed, loads of fresh hops and a nice roast and molasses sweetness to match - would love to see this one more often!

Just had a fantastic Red Racer IPA at theOnly Cafe, they also have great specials on tap - St Amby Citrouille and Black Oak Chocolate Cherry. They just ran out of Big Rock Scottish Ale (7%) and they have some pretty nice bottles on the go.
