Bornem Triple from last Christmas. Not bad, but I still have the Draak left.

Mill Street Barley Wine 2010 - this year's version is less apple-like in character and has much more prune and grape skin in the nose and flavour, almost adopting a "grape juice" quality and intensity (minus the sweetness). Malts give off caramel, toast, and biscuit, similar to the Tankhouse Ale. Hops provide a pleasantly bitter and spicy finish while the alcohol is only traceable in the aroma. Overall not a bad barley wine, and as a whole it's a very enjoyable strong ale, but I think I prefer the hoppier, aged 2009 vintage to this year's (very young) batch.

Wells IPA in the new green and red can. 8 weeks from packaging.
This version is less attenuated than I recall from the past, with commensurate benefits. The palate is rounder (more fruit, biscuit) yet still accented to earthy/flowery hops. There is also a slightly sulphur-like flavour (Burtonized water?).
Complex even well-chilled from the fridge.
The English invented IPA and they still make it best IMO.

Yeah I can barely handle a galopin of that stuff fresh at the pub. It is a damn good, savage beer. Best left to malinger a bit.matt7215 wrote:Dieu du Ciel Péché Mortel, this batch needs to sit, its not even close to as good as it will be in 6 months
Luckily DDC also had Penombre on tap. Now sipping a Simple Malt Goldings. Scored a 2009 Vobiscum Hibernus and the 2010 Trois Mous Doppel Bock.
