Lake of Bays Mocha Porter. Heavy coffee nose, smooth porter taste, I like this.

The Samuel Smith Winter Welcome Warmer, 6% ABV, a perennial for what must be 20 years now. I have never warmed to this beer, it seems to have no nose, and a very mild taste with a faint oaky-like backdrop - in fact it reminds me that few Samuel Smith beers have ever appealed to me except the Imperial Stout.

That is so sad to hear.
I know that the BurlyWine was off too, but at least it's only in Alcohol meaning, it's just a really hoppy strong ale. It's a good beer.
sigh.
I'll share a few with you if that helps?
such a drag for what should be a good beer.

St. Peter's winter Ale from last year... a good bottle for homebrew. ;D
Followed by Tree's Spiced Reserve Ale. A nice blend of holiday spicing, plenty of cinnamon. It was interesting warmed... though I'm not sure I'd recommend it.

Hi Gary,
I'm not sure if you've managed to try the Taddy Porter yet, but I certainly think that its the pick of the Sam Smith's offerings. It would probably interest you from a historical perspective too, and its an all-round fascinating beer. While not available in Ontario, its easy to come by in the better stores down south, and is also available out East.

Thanks Rob, I will try that at the next opportunity. I had it in earlier years and found it decent, on the dry side like porter has been described historically, but not something that made me want to try it again soon. I'll try it again though, I might view it differently today.
Certainly I think many would agree the Imperial Stout is the star of the group.

Jolly Pumpkin Bam Biere. An interesting take on the style. Nice touch of sour.
