Picked up a growler of the Square Nail, and had to pick up others after drinking the first. I wish I still lived in Peterborough with the beer scene continuously improving here! I am excited to explore out in Vancouver once I move in 3 weeks though.

Jester,
Just figured I'd chime in to let you know that I grabbed a growler of the Square Nail yesterday while in Peterborough and thoroughly enjoyed it. My past gripes aside it was definitely worth the wait. They were quite stocked up with growlers of the Square Nail and cans of the House Ale. They also had a stout freshly brewed that I will attempt the next time I'm up there.

Great to hear!
I actually just read about the stout on another thread, and I'll be heading down to pick up a growler shortly.
I'll also see if I can find out what's next.

Tried the Stone Wall Stout - surprisingly full and tasty for a low abv dry stout. Really quite good.
If I understand correctly, it sounds like they're gonna cut back to just the House Ale and the Rouse Wheat for the summer, which means I need to go get a couple more growlers of Square Nail.
On the business side, they are working on getting the House Ale into The Beer Store.

Stopped by last week and had a quick chat with the woman in the store. She said that the summer will likely be just the House Ale and Rouse Wheat so that they can keep up with orders but that John hopes to brew the Square Nail at least once as well.
Tried some tins of the House Ale and found it a bit plain for my liking. The Square Nail was nice and I'll be refilling the growler each time through Peterborough.
At least 4 good pale ales, at least 6 places that sell growlers, and a large number of new or expanded breweries in the last 2 years - the Ontario beer scene is making some steady and positive progress. Now if we can just do something about the distribution and retail side of things...

So my housewarming gift from my dad was a growler of the Eight or Better Belgian Ale. It was pretty tasty and kept us warm two nights ago when the temp. up in Timmins hovered around -1. For the style, I found it was not really that carbonated but no really problems beyond that. I wish I had more.
