What're you drinking right now?
this afternoon ive had 2 Upper Canada lagers and now Im enjoying a Bieropholie Double. This Bieropholie offering is quite nice and I suggest grabbing some if you have the chance. The bottle notes that 3 batches are planned so Im sure there will be lots to go around. Im probably goin to have a homebrewed Irish Red next but this Double has me thinking about the Westmalles in the cellar.....

Finishing off my Einhard paper with a bottle of Sam Smith's Imperial Stout. I put this one off because I'd already had a 4-pack last winter while in Florida for a swim team training camp, and had thought it was tasty but nothing spectacular. This bottle seems richer than the stuff I had in Florida though, almost reminds me of Wellington's IS, but in a good way. Nice one to drink while watching the snow storm outside.

Every bit as good as the Pumpkin Ale this year.
Agreed. Quite a nice treat. My store got several cases. The price point seems to be off putting for some consumers, but we are still selling it at a good pace.

Samuel Smith's 2007 Winter Welcome - the one I grabbed at the LCBO yesterday
Malts are still quite heavy on the dried fruits with some mild hop presence that keeps the sweetness down. No carbonation, but it doesn't detract anything from this beer. As its warmed in the glass its aroma has become chocolatey. Quite enjoyable but I wonder how good this would have been if stored properly over the last 12 months.

I think I need to become one of Grub's friends...
Awesome selection, man! You guys must have had one hell of a party that weekend! I've now added shochu (the crazy-ass sweet potato liqor I bought in Japan) to the green apple pils, and its one of those mixes that is better than the sum of its parts.
Ah, chilling to an Icelandic post-rock band 3,500 miles from home while drinking a Canadian beer and a Japanese spirit. The world is still a small place.
