The LCBO keeps telling us it's "on the way" but that means anything from 1 - 3 weeks. As of a week ago, there were no cases in the regional warehouses which means it's at least 2 weeks away. Having said that, Toronto-area stores often have to wait even longer although the beer is sitting in their Durham warehouse. I've given up trying to figure out what is going on because I cannot get a straight answer from anyone. Be patient...when it hits the stores, buy every bottle you can get your hands on.

In Kingston I saw a pencilled-in label on the shelf space, price of DFH 60 was 1.95 not 2.00. Not that accuracy means much (web price is N/A.)

Enjoying the Weltenburger Asam-Bock very much, no regrets hauling home over a case of that fine Doppel. The Liefmans Goudenband is also stellar (as it should be.) Can't wait for the 'specially aged' Dogfish IPA, wow and then we may have the Great Divide order, good thing I have a basement.

Yeah, I've gone through a case of the Asam quicker than I wanted to. I may have to slip back to the LCBO to pick up a dozen to store.

The Keele&StClair LCBO had the official shelf-sticker thingy up for it the other day, but no beer on the shelf. Price was $2 on the tag.
Oddly enough, when I looked at the web yesterday morning, it said $2, now it says N/A.

Geezuz boy, that's TEN liters of DoppelBock already! (You must have some experience at Oktoberfest in München.)
Weltenburger does drink extremely well though, you're right extra cases may be quite handy.

I picked up the Asam, Goudenband and Mort Subite on Saturday. I gave the Asam and Goudenband a try (the Mort Subite is a likeable known quantity.) I didn't dislike the Asam but I didn't find anything appealing either. Just a shurg of the shoulders. I can't see myself spending more money on it beyond the two bottles I got. The Goudenband I quite liked. It had a nice sweet taste that wasn't overpowering (not that I mind that sort of thing) and I liked the maltiness.

Lister,
I agree that Bock and Doppelbock styles are shrugged at by some and loved by others, for example in Rogue Dead Guy I find a lot of aromas and nuances others don't, or aren't tuned into enough to try again.
Maybe the second bottle of Weltenburg will reveal itself more to you, I've noticed things like that, flavors 'opening' up with a few tries and my brain learns all the new information. Or - it's just not for you! Saison Dupont and Orval seem to be multi-beer taste developers for people, or they never get it, or they don't bother again.
The Goudenband really appealed to me right away, and I drank two (my poor stomach.) I, too found it a little 'fat' also (good for ageing to dry it down as intended, but is it ever smooth right now, I was surprised.)
(Man I'm getting a nice cellar of Belgians!) Cheers, JK.

Stopped at 2 Cooper Street this morning and picked up Petrus, Affligem Blond, Goudenband, Weltenburger Asam-Bock and Paulaner Salvator.
There was lots of all if anyone is still looking...but no Dogfish....

As an update, the Bath Street LCBO in Kingston now has all but the DFH60.

With all this talk of the 60 min ipa, the greatness of the Goudenband has been overlooked. A great summer thirst quencher in it's own right, and great for aging...too bad about the cost.

It's an 'unusually realistic' cost here. True you can get a quite decent bottle of wine for $12 ** so a five-dollar beer can seem expensive but why think in those terms? It's for a unique experience & a subtle beer that ages well.
Idea: either a) go to Europe this summer, or b) spend some of the $$$ you save on imported beer (or food or whatever.) Like mini-vacations, standing in your cellar ready to enjoy at any time.
I alway rationalize pleasure expenses this way.

It's not that I'm complaining about the price...but at $5 per, it's tough to stock up on as many as I'd like, considering we don't know when we'll see it again (if ever). It is worth the price imho, just I can't afford too many cases.
