I guess they've decided if you can't beat 'em, buy 'em.

So I guess that loser beer will be discontinued shortly. Having "corporate beer still sucks" stamped on those bottles might be a little awkward to their new overlords.

Kudos that they can be so overtly critical through a beer name yet still negotiate a buyout :)

i have no issues with "selling out to the man".

Did a little more digging. Apparently this Matt guy is the head of sales for Elysian, not an owner. Still shouldn't have been tweeting what he did, but I guess he was likely in the dark.

Nothing wrong with selling out....then starting up a new craft brewery ;)
Probably going to be a more and more common occurrence, blurring those "craft beer" lines even more.

Well. I like many of their beers. Not all, but many.

I think the cynicism is obvious though. They have long shilled for the corporate pro-sports-entertainment industry, they pretended to just root for the local franchise, but that's no different than signing up for the whole patronage package. It's like worshipping your local McDonalds.
A-B might have seen a good deal in a brewer or just low cost tie-in with their equivalent sheep herding industry in sports entertainment.

Ultimately, I don't care about the motives. I did really like some of the beers and the owners are welcome to cash out how ever they can. Not my call.

As Kent Brockman on the Simpsons put it so well; "I for one, welcome our new insect overlords"

On the plus side, they can now paste Geffen labels over the Subpop labels.

Did anyone see or read about the awesome Bud commercial that was played during the Superbowl? If you didn't, you can see it here: https://twitter.com/Budweiser

The summary: They make fun of craft beer and craft beer drinkers and at one point they joking make a comment about a "Peach Pumpkin Ale" as a poke at craft beer. The irony? The only such beer out there is brewed by Elysian:

Idiots! At least do some research.

Speaking of idiots, Elysian will continue to make Loser... they still think Corporate beer sucks.
