General PSA - Godspeed's tapping 7 collaborations brewed in person in Japan (read: not over email) with 7 different Japanese breweries. They imported a bunch of other beers from each participant, too.

I am disappointed that their website only mentions that there is an event, but no other details. Presumably their instacrap account has the details like who the collaborators are. It annoys me when businesses use that tactic to tell non social media users that they are not welcome. Would it be so hard to put the info on your website? Or even have a website at all for so many of these places? Really shortsighted.

I guess I'm not a worthy 'influencer' and will have to take my business elsewhere. :cry:

Funny. When I go on the site a pop up links to the facebook event page with all the details. It's public so there's no account required to crib details. Either way, if you can find it in your heart not to discount an entire brewery because of how 1 event's details have been shared, I'm sure they'd appreciate it.

90+% of beer info/news/events has been almost entirely instagram based for the better part of a decade now. Basically the only reason I gave in and joined it years ago. Honestly not sure how you'd get much info about *anything* craft beer related otherwise (for better or worse..... probably worse).

(other than Bartowel, of course) :D

Websites are a lot harder to update than social media. Any employee can pretty mush post a facebook or instagram update, whereas a website might require a third party.

As for "non-social media users" you don't need an Instagram account to read a post (unlike "X" now). I feel like this is just the way things are nowadays, and it's a bit "old man yells at cloud" because you don't like they way they are doing it. And I'm an old man and I'd prefer it was on the website as well, but it's not, and it's a click or two away to finding the info you need. Way things are now, time to accept it and move on I say.

Sounds like a very cool event, I'm sorry I won't be able to make it. Here's the instgram post for anyone who can't/won't click the link:
🇯🇵 7th ANNIVERSARY UPDATE 🇯🇵

We promised surprises and now we’re ready to reveal a few...

Over the past many months, our Brewmaster Bim has criss-crossed Japan to collaborate with seven friends — both old and new — which culminated in a capstone event in Tokyo a few weeks ago. Well, from Friday, July 26th to Sunday, July 28th (11am-Midnight) we’re thrilled to tap ALL SEVEN collaborations right here at our pub! What’s more, additional beers from each collaborator will feature and rotate on draught for the duration of the weekend (while supplies last). Many participating brewers will be flying in to share a pour or two and celebrate.

Our featured Japanese breweries:

@coedobrewery
@inkhorn_brewing
@kobo_brewery
@kyotobrewing
@minohbeer
@ushitorabrewery
@yorocco_beer

As you’re well aware, we pride ourselves on never doing things in half-measure. It’s why we’re incredibly excited and humbled to tap many of these beers and breweries in North America for the very first time — at great expense, no less. Our 7th Anniversary is a culmination of years of aspiration, struggle, and love and we can’t wait to celebrate with you all!

Stay tuned for a complete beer list reveal next week, details about a special anniversary release, along with some delicious food specials from @wvrst that tap into the past seven years on Coxwell.

Many thanks again to @bohemiahop_official for sponsoring these collaborations and E.A.T. Japan Ltd. For their help and support.

Kanpai!

7th Anniversary Tap List 🍺🇯🇵

Our 7th Anniversary weekend is only days away and now that our imported Japanese beers have been transported safely in cold chain to our pub on Coxwell, we’re pleased to share what we’ll be showcasing on tap (in these newly minted Anniversary glasses, no less) starting Friday, July 26th through Sunday, July 28th - while supplies last!

As an aside, all too often collaborations are leveraged as marketing exercises with beers often developed exclusively over email or with little influence from the actual makers. We’re proud to say these 7 beers were developed out of a deep sense of respect and friendship; thoughtfully devised and produced in person with honest aspirations of learning and growing from the experience. We hope you can taste the difference in these simple yet refined creations.

Well @Tapsucker , I guess we've been told. :)

In fairness, I did not try. Won't be going to the event so I don't really need to know details.

You may be right. I've occasionally felt a pull to join some social media platform or another....but it goes away quickly. So far, I haven't felt like I'm missing enough to make the effort. Maybe that will change.
