More on the Victory Cafe

The comments in response to Victory's poll on cask beer have been interesting but I'll leave that thread to others. Some may have thought that I was getting into cask beer but it is not true - as a drinker only.**

I just wanted to say how refreshing it is to see another well established bar show a desire to make their beer selection more interesting, furthermore to also be interested in carrying cask beer.
I'm very pleased to say that the Victory took on my Weissbier a couple of months ago and I have been amazed to see how much of it they get through. I'm equally pleased that they have decided to double up on the Weissbier taps and also Dunkel will be pouring from two more taps at the end of this week.
The place has a great patio and a good atmosphere all round. The food is very good and the beer prices are very reasonable. Good solid business after 10 pm on Thursday and Friday nights.
The owners want to cultivate a genuine British pub feel to the place without it resorting to the cookie-cutter sameness of some others.
I didn't have a lot of accounts in the Annex area so the Victory has assisted in my quest for global domination.
I know this post may be old news to some of you, but for those that did not know about it, check it out when the opportunity arises.

Michael

**(There was the opportunity to think that I might have produced some cask Weissbier or Dunkel since Denison's is mentioned in the Volo Cask Days literature. However, you will notice that there is one less cask beer cited than the number of breweries attending. That is because I will be serving my beer from wood, but it will not have been aged in it. In Germany, wooden barrels are still used, rarely, as containers to distribute to bars, and I happen to have a couple of them. See you there.)

Thanks for the post, Michael. After reading this post, I decided to go down to Victory Cafe for a try. It was a great experience, decent beer selection, great pub ambience, friendly staff. The pub actually reminded me of Dublin pubs, as the upstairs' got this little stage for small plays, which was common there.

Michael, after Growlers, I was extremely happy to see the rebirth of Weizen and then the Dunkel, will there be a chance for the come back of the Hell. I think we are lacking some good quality Bavarian Hell in the Toronto area.
