Pulled out a bottle of the 2002 and 2003 Brick Anniversary Bock from the store room for a Sunday Night Battle Royale. Here's my take on the results:
I started with the 2003 Anniversary Bock. It had a dark cola colour with slightly less than average sized tan head. VERY malty nose of dried fruit and toffe, but it also seemed somewhat medicinal. Took a sip: better than the nose! Smooth with light carbonation. Tastes of milk chocolate and toffee, but not cloying. Finish lingered a bit longer than I like, but wasn't offensive.
Next: 2002. Slightly less carbonation than the 2003, but the same cola colour and tan head. Nose had same dried fruits and toffe, but also hints of wax and had more pronounced medicinal smell. Tastes a little more subdued than the 2003... more milk chocolate, dark dried fruits and toffee, but the same lingering finish as the 2003.
All in all, I thought they were still pretty good. It was definitely interesting to see the difference between the two years...
