Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

New Bar Towel Event: May 23rd - BEER LINEUP ANNOUNCED!
New Bar Towel Event: May 23rd - BEER LINEUP ANNOUNCED!
I am happy to announce the newest Bar Towel event, which is taking place on Tuesday, May 23rd in partnership with C'est What. This event ties to CW's Spring Beer Festival on Friday the 26th.
Here's the scoop. We're going to be doing an exclusive advance tasting event preceeding this year's C'est What Spring Beer Festival. The name of this event is The Bar Towel "Taster's Taps". The idea is this - at our event 10 beers which will be available at the Spring Beer Festival will be sampled. We'll vote on our favourites and the top 5 will be specially featured as The Bar Towel "Taster's Taps" at the festival itself.
I think this is a really unique event as it gives Bar Towel members a chance to have a say about which beers will be specially featured at the festival. As we all know CW's festival's have lots of beers available and many people just don't know much about them. Here's our chance to single out a few which will help the average person find something interesting and gives the brewers a bit more profile at the event.
The details:
WHEN: Tuesday, May 23rd, 7pm
WHERE: C'est What, 67 Front St. East
WHO: You and up to one guest.
HOW MUCH: $10 which includes the samples
There will be some other exciting Bar Towel related things we'll have going on at the event.
Please register here if you are interested:
http://www.goldentapawards.com/2005/index.php?sid=5
Space will be limited, so I ask that you register asap. I'll send email confirmations to everyone because there might just not be enough space depending on interest. But of course everyone is welcome to the Friday festival to see the Taster's Taps in action.
Any questions, let me know - cass@bartowel.com.
Looking forward to this and seeing everyone again.

Cass,
Should we expect a reply from the form? I filled it out yesterday - just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a reply or something...
Cheers,
-Josh

I've closed down the registration for this event, we're full up. Those who have registered will receive an email confirming their attendance.
Now for the good stuff. Here is the preliminary lineup for the beers that we'll be trying at the Taster's Taps (subject to change, of course):
Granite Summer Ale (cask, dry-hopped)
True North Double Oatmeal Treacle Stout
Black Oak Whiskey Barrel Aged Nut Brown Ale (cask)
Church-Key Pale Ale
Trafalgar Belgian Style Strong Beer (around 14% alc.)
Heritage Maple Bush Lager
Scotch Irish Chaplain's Solace Dark Ale
Neustadt L’Ale
Mill St. Tankhouse Cask Ale (cask)
King Pilsner (un-filtered)
Not too shabby. These beers will also be available at the Friday festival but 5 lucky ones be chosen by us at the TT.
If anyone wants to come and didn't register, send me an email at cass@bartowel.com and we'll see who can fit in as the event approaches.
Looking forward to it!

As far as I know it's C'est What servers, so I'm sure tipping would be appreciated.

Great event! Well done, Cass. Nice to meet a bunch of you.
Some interesting beers were sampled tonight, although there were a few of them that I wasn't overly fond of. But that's what tasting events are all about! Much better to try a few ounces of a beer that you don't love as opposed to a pint...
Tankhouse Cask was my winner of the tasting beers. (But it's in a dogfight against Black Oak Cask for best beer of the night. )
