Huether spiced Weissbier

Had a unexpected treat the other night when I took some folks for a Huether Hotel rolled rib special night. I was greeted at the pub door by a sign pronouncing a new house brewed beer on tap... a "spiced weissbier"?!?

I grabbed a pint fresh from the taps and ploughed in and to my surprise found a very falvourful and drinkable witbier. Harold ( one of the new Lion brewmasters) has done wonders in reworking all the Heuther brews and gettting new styles out on seasonal rotation.

The owner tells me this is just a mid winter trial of the new seasonal they will be offering in the summer as the Huether Hefeweizen moves from seasonal to year round availabilty at Huether's taps.

Just a heads up for KW towelers or anyone who may be in the Waterloo region on biz the next week or two.

Cool. Keep us posted on their offerings, I have been meaning to get back up to the KW to try and try some of their less frequent seasonals.

The quality of the brews has increased immensly since they brought Harold ( Steam Whistle, Nickle Brook) to straighten out their process and rework the recipes.

After I tasted what they had 4 years ago I was soo turned off I never went back until the last 6-8 months....now I go for a pint of their Weurzberger Munich lager 2-3 times a month....the brown ale and english ale have also improved greatly...and the German weissbier is a solid offering....the new wit is an excellent addition to their rotating seasonals. I would put them on par with what you got at Gordon Beirsch pubs...nothing extrodinary but good solid all malt fresh beers.

Good food too 8)
