Bass Pale

I've noticed a dearth in the Bass Pale Ale shelf stock at the gummint dairy bars but I still see it listed as a shelf item...no LCBO buy in a long while. This used to be a alternate session ale with me and I get a urge for one from time to time ( Like a Coopers) it'd be nice to know if it will ever show up her agains without special order
Anyone heard what the status is on this listing?

Isn't Harp the same thing now anyway?
Just kidding. Try the Neustadt Scottish while you are waiting.

I got Neustadt any time I need it...and I session it all the time. I realize Bass ( once the world's oldest trademark) is the intellectual property of Coors now...but it is still brewed in Burton on Trent by Marstons...I JUST WANT SOME BASS OK?
Bass has that Burton on Trent water that makes the hop bittering sparkle....and it is still a very sessionable pale.
I wonder if the Coors ownership of brand has anything to do with Bass getting into Canada?

I use to have it on tap fairly frequently at the Waltzing weasel in London:

It's a British pub (sadly lacking in local craft), but their food is quite good (and cheap).
Definitely an easy drinker (and not too filling with a meal).

Coors bought the Bass brewery, but not the brand (tho' they did contract-brew it for a time immediately after the split). InBev owns the brand but the UK regulators made them sell the brewery and a few of the brands (like UK's version of Carling Black Label).
The Bass labels in the US just say "Luton", but, from what I understand, that's just InBev's UK headquarters (formerly Whitbread), no brewery there, haven't gotten a straight answer on who brews the bottled product shipped to North America for InBev now that the contract with Coors is over.

If you check the LCBO website you will notice it is "PRODUCT DISCONTINUED"...that's all folks.

I first has Bass Pale Ale from the LCBO back in 1974. It was sold in a stubbie bottle and cost 45 cents a bottle. I'm sure it had been a regular item for many years prevoius as well.
Sometimes "product discontinued" indicates a new package is here/coming. Maybe it'll show up in cans.

That seems likely. It's been on the general list for as long as I can remember (and obviously even longer than I can remember, if you were buying it in 1974) - I really can't imagine them dropping it.

My understanding from industry sources is that it will not be back but they could be wrong.

It would make a lot of sense if the LC website gave advance news of prospective changes, such as the definite disappearance of certain products. Just a "news page" like we have here on BT.
But it might incur public resistance to advertise such de-listings.

Why do TBS list it as available in Kegs?...or is this just an old listing the TBS site manager never bothered removing??...they still had Northern beers up last I looked
