Ya, except that's going for $4.95/ 500ml bottle. Not much better price point...

$4.75. So 2x500 ml = $9.50 for 1000 ml vs. MHA @ $8.95 for 750 ml. I dunno, I'll take the extra half-pint for $0.55 please!

Spoken like a true bartowel-head, sir! Now... what mean you calling 250 mls a half 'pint'? Isn't a true imperial pint .568 liters? Just messing around, bikedracula...

spinrsx wrote:anyone had a Muskoka Harvest Ale yet this year? How is it drinking?
I have. It's drinking nicely, similar to last year's, IIRC, with the ABV bumped up even slightly more. Anyway, I like it, but at its current price point, I can't justify many more bottles. I'll have it again on draught, for sure. Buy a couple bottles of Amsterdam's Autumn Hop instead, 'tis quite good, and is just hitting LCBO shelves now.
just to clarify, the only thing that would liken these two beers is the fall theme in their name.
Muskoka's Harvest is like a English malty Pale while Amsterdam's Autumn Hop is a wet-hopped IPA. completely different beers, Amsterdams is really good, fresh right now, talkin bout oily resin hops plus great format size in 500. muskokas is ... an unnecessarily cork and caged 750 muddied barley wine.

Thought the same as heebes about Muskoka's Harvest from the bottle, but I had it on draught tonight and it was similarly malty but exploding with hops as well. I was very impressed after being let down with the bottle. What gives, I don't know. On draught it resembled what it was in bottles last year, which was really good.

bah, bought a bottle of the muskoka this morning before reading these comments. My 9$ could have went towards 4 red racers.

Had the Amsterdam Autumn hop last night, it's nothing to write home about either imo

Currently working through an Amager Rye Porter and I have to say I was blown away by how good it is, then I read the label and saw that Shaun Hill had a hand in the recipe and it all makes sense now.

Shared with a group at a party, the Beau 4-pack Octoberfest release, plus the regular (single bottle purchase) Octoberfest release. I thought all were excellent except the smoked wheat one, which seemed damp paper-oxidized. My favourite was the German Porter, delicious, and well-balanced. The one with rye (Dr. Hyde) was the least successful perhaps but still good. The Octobock was rich and very drinkable. Beau is hitting its stride...
