Also $6.95 for a 750ml is not too bad when we have turds like Lake of Bays IPA @ $8.95cratez wrote:Last night at Bar Hop:
Kensington Brewing Tilt (draught)
Oast House Country Bumpkin (draught)
Ommegang Belgian Pale Ale (draught)
Northwinds Corduroy Rye IPA (draught)
What were the group's thoughts on this one?
You should try it!

I just had a some of the Beau's Festivale. Now, I have had this one before and don't remember enjoying it as much as I did today. I basically got it because I remember really enjoying the Alt Sticke that we got at LCBO earlier today and for comparison sake.
I've had this bottle for a few weeks and I think the last one I had might have been fresher because the hops while still there were certainly not as prominent. Very malty with some nice toffee flavours, bread, slightly nutty and some orange as well.
Either way I am glad I picked this one up.

Between the Ontario Wet Hop, Headstock, Naughty Neighbour, Bolsevik Bastard/Old Kentucky Bastard, this summer's Amarillo Saison, and the various one-offs and collabs, Nickel Brook has, in the last year, easily vaulted into my top 5 Ontario breweries. And I haven't even had the Immodest IIPA or Malevolent Black IPA (their two highest rated on RB)!Kekumba wrote:Well you guys convinced me to go get the Nickel Brook Wet Hop. Very pleased, light and easy, fresh and sessionable. Smells so wonderful. For someone who more or less hated Nickel Brook not too long ago, I've been loving them recently.
Back on topic.
At home, watching episodes of Tales From The Darkside...
Barley Days County IPA
Alchemist Heady Topper
Beau's Mr. Hyde
and I'll probably finish off the night with a GLB Pumpkin

The nose is amazing with most of the traits noted on RB, and the flavours are there although I don't find it as pungent as the Amsterdam Autumn Hop. The body is lighter than I expected but that doesn't detract from the beer, and overall I agree it's well worth a purchase.matt7215 wrote: how did you like the wet hop?

#1 Welligton Impy Stout
#2-tie Amsterdam Tempest
#2-tie Grand River Russian Gun
#4 Nickel Brook Bolshevik Bastard
#5 Bellwoods Hellwoods
I'm sure this would be exactly reversed for me....
Just had a BB yesterday at Bar Hop and was thinkng if NB were to can it, I'd never need to buy Wellington again; both have flavour but BB is much fuller / heavier in body as a RIS should be, imo.
