Thomas Hardy's Ale

Post by Lukie »

Became one of my cherished beers and now its sadly gone. Is there anything similiar to this currently at the LCBO?

Sadly no.

"Old Ale" is a fairly diverse style. We get the odd one (Ola Dubh & Fullers Vintage), but they're not really alike.

Start homebrewing to your taste!

Some Barley wines are somewhat similar as well... St. Ambroise Vintage ale?

Sad to hear. Yes, I'm partial to Barley wines too (loved Gulden Draak but thought the Mill St. variety was an abomination).

Would an Ale like that be difficult to try to replicate at home for someone new to homebrewing?

The Phoenix Imports Group (owners of the THA recipe and brand) are still looking to finalize a lasting relationship with a suitable brewery.

In the meantime, perhaps this could provide some temporary relief for those craving for Thomas Hardy's Ale...

- a number of Ontario establishments have THA on their list (the Beerbistro should still have some 2006)
- Samichlaus is still available though Private Ordering
- Nørrebro Julebryg will be coming in mid winter

Cheers,

Store allocation is not available at this point - we will post it as soon as we receive it.

I can already tell you what stores these will be allocated to, and I am sure you can take an educated guess, and come up with the same outcome. Think Ola Dubh 40 all over again.
If you`re reading this, there`s a 15% chance you`ve got a significant drinking problem. Get it fixed, get recovered!

I'm going to cross my fingers then because Bayfield St. in Barrie got OD40 on the second allocation.
