Used to be Store #23 at Barton and Gage moved it a couple of miles down the road to what used to be the old Centre Mall. The Spec reported that it was 12000 sq. ft., shopping of 8400 sq. ft., 300 wines in the Vintages and 2700 other assorted products.
I dont live near there but happened to be down there and decided to check out the grand opening. Nice big store , nice Vintages area, couldnt get near it to check out the listings. Too many suits shooting the breeze with the sales reps! The Alexander Keith guys were there in case anybody wants to rag at them.
The walk in beer cooler was nice and contained about 3 brands I might have considered buying. The selection was literally, old wine in new bottles. Plain Jane selection, something you might see in a small town. I would have thought they would be showing off new products, Netherworld for example, but no, same ol same ol. Considering the area its supposed to serve. You put in a large, for that area Vintages, but little or no quality beer. Further east is the Eastgate store, now theres a store, or west is the Dundurn store, 1/3 the size and 10x the selection.
I hope I have not seen the future!
