LCBO discontinues 750ml Maudite and Blanche de Chambly

Post by Gedge »

Really disappointed by this, specifically the Maudite, which I buy regularly. They are still selling BDC in 6-packs, but are not offering Maudite in any format. That means TBS now has two Unibroue exclusives, the other being Trois Pistoles.

The LCBO is still carrying Fin Du Monde, which is a bargain at $4.90 for 750ml.

These have come and gone over the years, I think they discontinued the bigs a while back but brought them back again later.

There is a new display of 341 mL BdC at my local. I don't remember ever seeing the small bottles there before. No Maudite, though.

On the plus side, these beers are available at many Beer Stores in the 341ml size.

On the minus side that involves trying to convince Beer Store employees they carry them

Fin Du Monde is onits way out as well, Blanche De Chambly will be the only one available in a 6 pack. Though the next Unibroue anniversary ale (18?) is being considered as a seasonal...and thats from a very reliable source

The 17 was early 2008, soon followed by the Quatre-Centième. We missed a few... they should really have a 20th Anniverary out about right now.

It all started with the 10, you'd think they'd do something special for the 20th. Or does Sapporo just not care?

The guy that I deal with at Sleeman's is actually a good guy, that knows his stuff. He told me they are submitting a bunch of new Unibroue stuff to the LCBO, the anniversary being one of them. The way I figure it Sleeman's has the cash to at least push one of them through, so thats good news. Chambly Noir and Don de Dieu were among the others they submitted.

Thank goodness FDM is still available - that HAS to be one of the best valued beers we have available to us!

I can remember last year at this time there was some rumblings about FdM being discontinued, so I grabbed a 1/2 dozen of the 750's, still got 4 of them and they should just be starting to peak

You may want to do that again because it is on its way out, once there is no more in the TBS warehouse its gone from the LCBO

Unibroue says 3 to 5 years for the FDM so there you go.

Mine say:

B011018110

So made Feb 1, 2010 add 3 years so at least 2013 maybe 2015. As long as I drink them by 6:11 pm I'm good.

Oh man, make sure you do! Once I had a bottle of FDM 2 mins after its expiry date and it was a freaking train wreck! 2 mins prior though is fantastic.
