This is why I ignore the special Schneider stuff at PG now, we have great luck in getting it here, and at a good price.

Cool that we're getting a Lagunitas too.

Since SNPA has a 150 day shelf life, this was bottled at the end of May.

None of them comes anywhere close to being as satisfying as a well made English-style bitter in the same ABV range, at least for my money. Trying to think of an Ontario example. Neustadt Mill Gap Bitter perhaps? That long-lamented Scotch-Irish beer fit the bill perfectly, for a couple of years.

EDIT: others I have liked better than any of the ISA's, at 4% or less ABV (though admittedly not pale ales, just saying these tend to be more satisfying even at low ABV): GLB Simple Porter, Neustadt Ever Ard Mild, Barley Days Shucker Paddy Oyster Stout.
I agree completely. Even the best ISA I've ever had has just tasted like a watery IPA. They're fine and all, but I've never had one and not thought how much I'd rather just have a real IPA.

A nice bitter, or even a mild, is more my style if I want something low-ABV.
Couln't agree more with both of you. I like hops as much as the next guy and I prefer my hopy beers to have a dry crackery malt base, but I almost feel that for hops to shine they need a minimum amount of subtle sweetness backing them up that, for whatever reason, doesn't exist in low ABV hoppy beers. IMO, despite smelling great, ISA's come off as less than the sum of their parts, having less hop flavor than I'd expect given the hopping regimen and especially lacking that "juicy" mouthfeel that I crave in a hopy beer. Although Malt is more of a key ingredient in beer than salt is in cooking, I equate the non-existant malt profiles in most ISA's to underseasoning food.
Although the Nickelbrook Naughty Neighbour is marketed as a Pale and not a Session IPA, its as hoppy as most IPAs, extremely thirst quenching but with good body, and only 4.9% which I think fits the definition of a session by a nose :)

Any idea when this one is gonna hit the shelves? I only heard "end of july". Maybe when I'm in Vancouver soon I can pick up a bottle of the Phillips one.
End of July, really? I was in Victoria at the end of June and the Phillips version was already out. The intent was that this was supposed to be a Canada day collaboration beer.

if it gets to August, will the hops be in prime condition?

Yeah, that's why I asked. But this seems like the less common version. If there's one chalice to get it's this one and they are so pricey to buy online with shipping.

The pack is part of the Christmas Gift release, usually starts appearing in November.

The number is #426817

Unfortunately we will no longer be seeing the Rochefort gift pack :(
(Something to do with prices...)

Some consolation, however - the Rochefort 10 is now a permanent general listing :)

No biggie, all 3 Rochefort 6 8 10 beers are made with the identical grain bill, only the proportion of water varies so it takes little imagination to understand the 6 is lighter than the 8.

Anyone new to beer who missed the Westvleteren 12 LC release a few years ago (not the smallest debacle in history  ) should know the Rochefort 10 is considered just about as great as Westy, in blind tastings some think it's better. Plus it's a quarter of the going price; like Orval, Roche 10 an absolute steal here.
