Re-bottling

So I don't know if this is a completely cracked idea or not, but can you re-bottle beer. I'm asking because I've got one brew that's bottled in 650ml bottles and needs to be in 12 oz bottles for the TBW competition. I don't want to screw this up, but I really want to enter this brew. Please help.

well... you can do anything you like. results will vary. two issues 1) maintaining carbonation, 2) avoiding oxidation.
short term storage (to enter a comp that will be judged soon), #2 is likely not much of an issue. #1 is the bigger concern - open it up and pour it, you will lose some of your carbonation. if you have the beer and empty bottles very cold, you have your best chance of preserving carbonation. pinpointing how much you'll use isn't easy. is that really what you want for a competition entry?
now, if you had more time you could let it de-gas and re-prime it, but you're still opening yourself up to incorrect carb levels, re-introducing room for infection, re-introducing room for oxygen, etc...
so i'd say it's not really recommended as the amount of carbonation you'll end up in the end is unknown, but otherwise not likely to be harmful for a short-term storage like this.
